Just lie…or tell your browser to lie. I don’t think it’s (entirely) about the codec. Shortly after Cam Pan v4 launched, I was able to view its live stream in Web View in Microsoft Edge on both Linux and Windows[1][2], but streaming in Edge stopped working some time after those initial tests. I’ve seen some Microsoft Edge updates download and install to my PC, and I thought those might resolve the issue, but apparently they haven’t, so today I wondered if there was an easy way to try telling E…

Speaking of time lapse, it would be cool if (when using continuing recording to MicroSD) it were possible (with any camera) to do an after-the-fact time lapse. Just tell the camera what date/time to start reading the SD card and what date/time to stop, and make a time lapse by reading every 10th or 30th (or whatever) frame from the card. Even if this process was slow (even real-time slow) to conserve camera resources, it would be awesome.

Create timelapse from previously recorded video

I’d like the ability to make a timelapse of video that is already recorded (for those of use using continuous recording). For instance I would want to be able to set a start and end time and export a timelapse of that section.

There are a few video-to-time-lapse utilities. I think this one is free.

It’s not difficult to do with existing tools like FFmpeg, as I noted above, and at least one Forum user has created a script to do just that. I still think the idea of getting Wyze to do this has merit, especially if it doesn’t involve physically accessing the camera to retrieve the card for video access, and according to the Wishlist topic I linked that seemed to be the plan at one point.

Changing the app to allow direct clip downloads is easier than Wyze having to add a video-to-time-lapse function.

I also remember the time when I was viewing cloud clips using VLC instead of the Wyze video player. They can do something similar, and feed the clip to another phone utility. Saves them the hassle of developing a new utility. I wonder why Wyze removed that ability to play clips on any phone video player? It was very handy.

I favor both, but what I’d really like (which I don’t expect to happen) is to be able to map a microSD card (via its LAN IP address) as a network drive from my PC. If wishes were ….
