I haven’t seen anything to that effect recently, and I’ve been wondering if there would be any follow-up after @WyzeMengtingHu was soliciting logs to investigate this a few months ago. My own problematic Cam Pan v3 currently has the RTSP β firmware on it, so I haven’t really been tracking this particular issue for a while because that Cam isn’t on the regular production firmware track, and my recording problems with that particular camera actually began last December.
Sadly I have 2 Wyze Cam Pan V3 (current firmware is version 4.50.15.480) and both have the same issue that stopped recording back in June 2025, for no reason. On both I’ve tried the following steps with no success:
Power cycle them.
Format the SD cards and reinsert them.
Different SD cards that work on other non Wyze devices
Factory reset them both.
Revert to prev. firmwares.
Any new ideas out there on how to try other things?
I don’t have any solid suggestions, no. From my user’s perspective, this has always seemed very much like a similar issue with (non-Pan) Cam v3s that seemed to be remediated with a server-side change as reported in a Fix-It Friday topic last year. In that situation, some users were reporting that some Cam v3s were affected but not others, and that has always puzzled me, but then it’s pretty apparent that the app is heavily server-dependent for its function, so if something is borked on a server then I can imagine how it can have potential downstream effects to individual devices. I have just never seen a good explanation for why some devices are affected but others are not. That’s my case: One of my Cam Pan v3s doesn’t have this issue, but another one will tell me at times that it can’t retrieve recordings or even detect the microSD card—nevermind that the same microSD card works as expected in other Cams, and I was able to use a different (smaller) microSD card to flash this Cam’s firmware for RTSP.
I have seen other users suggest “solutions” which are claimed to be definitive, only later to learn that the problem recurred even for those users, so I really think any fix has to come from Wyze, likely somewhere on the server side again.
Yeah, I saw your posts at the time, and the lack of follow-up is discouraging. I’ve been focusing on other issues and am not in a position to try to replicate this with my problem Cam Pan v3 because it doesn’t currently have a standard firmware installed, and I don’t think the addition of that variable would be helpful to this cause.
I’m going to ask someone else at Wyze about this again. I know they’ve been introducing some changes to Cam Pan v3 via firmware that require the newest app versions, because that’s been in the Wyze News and Beta announcements, but I haven’t seen any specific mention of back-end or other changes intended to address this particular issue.
They had a firmware update shortly after I complained.. there’s a new update It’s pending and I’m afraid to use it cuz I don’t know what’s going to do to the system. Maybe somebody else has done the newest update and can advise as to whether or not the cameras are not working again
Yeah, I’m aware of the updates, as I track topics in both the Wyze News and Beta categories, but they’re so sparse with their release notes that it’s nearly impossible to discern any details about what they change between firmware versions. Like I’ve said previously, my own experience with this issue goes back to December 2024, which clearly predates any recent firmware versions, and that’s all on production firmware, not beta. If I went back through my prior posts, I think I could probably find references to this problem back in the summer of 2024 for that one particular camera, but they seemed to clear up for a while in the fall before that Cam was affected again in December. That’s what makes me think they’re monkeying with back-end things (which they do unannounced anyway), but I’m still puzzled by why only some Cams but not others are affected.
Not at all. I’m providing my own experience as context. Others here clearly have different experiences, and, like I’ve stated many times, I’m still puzzled about the timing and extent of this issue.
My one “good” Cam Pan v3 shows that same firmware version when I check, and I’m using that same Android app version. Interestingly, the “Update firmware” screen is also showing me an Automatic Update option which I’ve turned Off. In the past, my Cam Pan v3s didn’t show that option[1][2], so I’m not sure when that appeared.
