The latest app is very slick and on my Cam V3 the Events can be scrolled.
However when in Landscape view the screen does not rotate 360 degrees.
Have raised with Support but no reply yet

Yeah, looks like Wyze can’t master full landscape mode. Support won’t be able to help you. It’s up to the software developers to figure out how to achieve it. Must be really hard
Hi
You get landscape but it doesn’t fully rotate when you rotate your tablet to stand it up.
Wonder will they sort it out.
Both iOS and Android can lock the screen orientation. Wyze doesn’t honor that setting. For example when viewing event clips, the app ignores the screen lock. Worse, it does show landscape inverted if you have oriented the mobile device the wrong way.
It will be a cold day in hell when they do. I have been asking for it since I got my cameras back in 2022. I use an iPad on a stand on my desk to monitor cameras in groups and it is pain in the proverbial if I want to go to any other tab as I have to take the iPad from the stand and rotate it or have my had tilted 90 degrees
Ugh, this is driving me nuts! I actually haven’t seen it before a few months ago (and I have been a wyze app beta user for years now). The fact that it overrides my phone’s auto-rotate settings (with no way for me to change that settings), is a huge problem. It literally makes my husband seasick to try to look at events when they won’t hold still. I generally think wyze has been a good product for a reasonable price but we can’t even check the events on our pan cam v3’s now, so we may have to consider other brands if this persists, which is a major bummer.
Not sure I’m following, you’re saying the screen is rotating when you’re not rotating the phone/tablet?
If it is rotating when you rotate the device, just don’t rotate the device?
Do this:
Lock the screen orientation to portrait. Then play any cloud event. I have Cam Unlimited, I don’t know if this is a factor but probably not.
Then physically rotate the phone to make it landscape. The Wyze app display changes to landscape. It shouldn’t. That’s what the orientation lock is for.
When you’re lounging on the couch and the phone is neither vertical nor horizontal, the screen needs to be locked, otherwize you get the screen flip-flopping all the time.
Yeah I know what the rotation lock is for, but just seemed like @queenknut was saying it was moving around on its own without being rotated or something. I hardly ever need to turn on screen lock so for it to be doing it enough to be making someone seasick seemed like some sort of other issue.
I have a couple other apps that aren’t tied to the system’s rotation lock, one is a stock quote app that you can either rotate your screen or tap an icon to get a landscape view (which will rotate it even if you still have it in portrait) that is much more detailed and has a lot more options on it, almost a totally different screen. Wyze does that too, the portrait screen is laid out a lot differently and you can also cause it to happen by tapping an icon when in portrait orientation, so I’m guessing it is something similar, they have their own screen rotation logic and are not using the system’s.
@queenknut is probably laying down and looking at her phone in portrait mode. Then what she says makes sense.
Edit -
I remember another poster saying that he has an older app version and that older version doesn’t do this. It’s likely a Wyze dev removed it by mistake.
Few ways I can think around that -
In portrait mode on the v4 if you double tap the image, it brings up the event list to the right so you can navigate through them and stay in portrait. Not sure if any others are like that, my OG and v3 double tap zooms in so maybe this is new on the v4?
While in portrait mode you can tap the rotation icon in the wyze app and it changes back to portrait, if you don’t move your phone, it stays that way, even if you’re holding the phone sideways.
My personal preference for reviewing events is to use the << and >> buttons overlaid on the image which lets you skip back and forth between them, and in that case it will stay in portrait mode, no need to switch back and forth to see the event list.
As I stated above, the older Wyze app actually did this properly. I can’t find it now, but someone posted that he has an older phone with an older app. That version does check the screen orientation lock.
I have seen Wyze do this all the time; they mistakenly remove working code. It’s either they don’t have a version control software, or the their dev team has high turnover.
Or they made a major change and released a new app that works differently. Any app I’ve seen with a button you can tap to rotate the screen/change to full screen behaves this way. Not saying it is ideal or they shouldn’t change it back, but from what I can see they’ve moved the screen rotation control into the app instead of using the system setting.
Wyze? Haha. Not likely. There are tons of bugs that are more important. Wyze does not do small things, it always aims for the flashy updates that bring in more revenue. And create bugs in the process.
If I were to guess they’re using freelance developers who are not totally familiar with the existing code
I concluded the same with all their app iterations so far.
Probably via TaskRabbit
I suspect they source their people from Upwork. It’s not bad, but by its nature, there’s no continuity.
We use TCS and WiPro. Both awful. New people every week with no handover or training. By the time they get a basic knowledge of the systems they’re gone.
