The new Wyze bulb cams are great. They’re fast & crystal clear. I have 3 of them facing down the drive of my house. When it detects motion it will only trigger the bulb that notice the movement. I want all of them to com on when this happens so I made an automation to do so. The problem is the lights stay on & have to manually be turned off, which the lights can be on all night. Is there another automation that I can make that after maybe 30 minutes upon the lights coming on that will then automatically turn off the lights until the next time motion is detected?
Yes, and I briefly described this in response to your post in the announcement topic. It involves using a spare Wyze Plug or Plug Outdoor, though, because you use the “Has been on for” trigger of one of those in the new Automation, and in your first Automation you’d also have to add an Action to turn on the Plug at the same time your secondary Bulb Cams’ lights turn on.
If you need help with the details, I can walk you through it. I’m gonna want some before I do, though.
I don’t think any apology is necessary. I responded to your post in the announcement topic because that’s where I saw a comment first. I think it’s good to create a secondary topic like this because you’re asking a directed question about how to use a product, and this would be a good place for other users in the future to find the same discussion. I probably would’ve written the title to be more descriptive, though, like describing your question or goal in a few words, so it provides information about the topic’s content. If you’re unable to do that kind of thing, then you can always flag your own topic and ask the Moderators to change that for you.
I was thinking also that since you’re trying to accomplish another Automation for a lighting product, then you could use a Wyze Bulb (if you have one) instead of a Plug with the “Has been on for” action as a trigger. You could have one Automation turn on the Bulb on whenever your Bulb Cams turn on their lights, and then after the Bulb has been on for a predetermined amount of time, you could have a second Automation turn off the Bulb and the Bulb Cam lights.
I hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask other questions if you need more detail.
