So I haven’t even had my Wyze Cam Pan for 10 days now and within those 8 days, it’s deleted all the events twice. I installed an SDcard two days ago. So does anyone know WHY it would delete all the events before 14 days was even up (on two separate occasions) ?
14 days is how long cloud videos are stored, not videos on the SD cards. Depending on the size of the SD card, what video resolution the cam is set to, and whether you have it storing continuously or event-only, the amount of “time” that is stored will vary greatly.
This support article - about half way down - does a good job explaining how much video you can expect to record on a card:
So, 7 to 8 days is about right.
As I said, I just got my SD card in two days ago. So before that, the events deleted were deleted in about 3- 4 days. That’s NOT how it should be, correct? Thank you!
Also, it says this
“Wyze Cam will still make the 12-second alert videos that are captured and stored on the cloud for 14 days based on the camera’s motion detection settings. This lets you have a backup on the cloud waiting for you, just in case.”
So if my events were all deleted, HOW do I find them back on the cloud?
Thanks for clearing that up. I misread the issue.
The camera does not delete videos from the cloud. They are either overwritten after 14 days, or a user interacts with the Wyze app to delete them. I’ve had these cams for well over a year, and, unless there is some issue with the cloud server (happens very rarely) I’ve never “lost” an event video or had them disappear inside of 14 days.
Yes, if you have an SD card installed, 12-sec event videos are still uploaded to the cloud. You can see them - as before - in the Events tab in the app. You should be able to slide right the numbered dates at the top to see the previous week’s videos.
Okay- thank you! So there is definitely something wrong if mine are being deleted before 14 days (and not by me) ?
SD card recording and cloud event clips are completely Independant of each other. You can have one without the other, neither of them or both of them at anytime.
How do you know the events were deleted from the cloud? Are you looking in the event tab or in playback? In the event tab (where cloud clips are accessed), do you know you can go back by clicking the day on the top as only one day of the week is visible at a time? If you have any relevant screen shots to, that’ll help.
Thank you for your help. I am looking in the event tab. For instance, yesterday’s are completely gone. Yet, the day before are not. So not all days are erased. I should have said that too. Do you think it can be “glitchy” at times? I am brand new to this camera so learning the ropes.
Can you tell me - since SD card recording and event clips are completely independent, how can you access the SD card IF the cloud events were deleted? I have my SD card on continuous so would the only way for me to do this is to go back to “view playback” and search through the footage?
again, thank you for your help!
That is correct. There is also an event recording setting for SD card local storage where it’ll save the minute block where your motion event is to the SD card. Then when viewing in playback the event will be highlighted by green on the timeline (same color as continuous, just only over events, not everything). Then by clicking the arrows on either side of the timeline you can skip forward and back to the next or previous event.
Also, what app version are you using?
So, in your opinion, do you recommend continuous or event for the SD card? I am using iOS.
I rate myself as very vigilant when it comes to wanting a sence of security so I have all my mission critical stuff on continuous with mostly 64 gig cards.
What app version? Numbers? There are a few iOS versions out there so I want to make sure I am looking in the right spots for troubleshooting. I am an Android guy, my only recent exposure to apple stuff was plugging my wifeys airpods in today to charge. I felt wierd, ran back to my Android phone and tablet. Lol
oh sorry- I’m running iOS 13.3.1
thanks for the advice! I greatly appreciate it!
