🎶 My Bird Feeder Brings All the Birds to My Yard

I do not provide a birdbath, yet, but I will next year. There was a water tray on my standing feeder but the plastic broke earlier this year and I just never replaced it.

It would be pretty neat if wyze could partner with Cornell and ebird or merlin. That could be quite a nice partnership!

My pool serves as a drinking dish for squirrels, but the birds cannot reach over the side to get the water.

Only iguanas go in for a bath, occasionally. Dragonflies also fly along the surface with their mouths open.

Ok, I gotta ask, why do you dislike them?

Overpriced hardware, over priced monitoring and they don’t stand behind their contract. I wrote about it here a long time ago. But had a flood in my basement, their flood sensors failed to alert me. Sensor was under 4 inches of water. Said if operational systems failed they would pay for a portion of restoration. Ghosted me for montha. They are the reason I found Wyze.

They also ride their segways into my grass when they go to door in my hood trying to sell their junk.

Just a really bad experience with them.

Oh my. That’s just an awful experience. I just have window and door sensors (the original ones from over 15 years ago). I did have some smart plugs from the beta stuff, but I stopped using them years ago when I got into smart home stuff and replaced them with Kasa. I also had a deadbolt but the motor gave out a couple years back and I never replaced it. We just use it as a dumb lock now. I do have a thermostat and the one camera I mentioned above.

If I ever opt to change companies I’m not sure who I’d go with. We’ve had good luck with the monitoring, and they moved our equipment free when we moved, but I’ve never had anything catastrophic happen. I guess time will tell on that one (fingers crossed that nothing catastrophic happens).
