If true, Wyze should include a warning on the box. That would be something I would want to know before buying!

The version one sensors have been discontinued… You won’t be able to buy them anymore… You can only buy the V2 version of the sensors if you purchase a home monitoring monthly subscription.
I don’t know nor do I care whose fault this is. As a customer I expect an item that I buy to work.
So you are expected to replace the battery before it gets too low? And just how do you tell when the battery is getting too low? Wyze either cares about their customers opinions or they do not. As a customer, why would I continue to buy from a company if I think their products will only last one year?
Wyze was great for the first couple of years after they launched, but they’ve been expanding their product line seemingly faster than they are able to keep up with support.
Personally, I would rather pay double for a product that I think will last three or more years than to try and go cheap, buy something and have it last a year or less. That’s just me.
I’m just now dealing with this issue but it is very upsetting that when the battery is dead for a while, the device is bricked. I did not have any 2450 batteries available when the device died (I never got a notification that the battery was low) and by the time I got some in from Amazon, it must have been too late. Now it won’t power on. I learned that none of the v1 sensor devices work with the v2 which is even more disappointing.
Actually, if they are working, you can connect the V1 sensors to the V2 hub so you would no longer need the camera/bridge combo. They don’t work with HMS but they continue to function for rules, lights, etc. Doesn’t help, though, if the sensors are bricked.
I have numerous Wyze Sense sensors: motion detectors and 2 piece sendors and 2 bridges. All I see offered now are version 2 which is completely different & not compatible. I need need to replace failed sensors. I need help.
You can try ebay or HomeDepot sells a full starter kit with camera:
trash product + trash response by company = unhappy customers. Let it burn/die and move on to another product.
has anyone found a competitor product they like?
Nope… I still have 2 working V1 sensors in my 3d printed enclosures with the giant 600mah batteries attached… all the other sensors I had died ![]()
Haven’t really found another sensor option that I like that works with my wyze lights, so if these sensors die I guess I’ll try another brand of lights that has a better sensor.
my v1 contact sensors are both still working
i’ve gone through a couple of motion sensors though, last one died about a month ago
looking to switch to v2
Wow. I thought they stopped supporting these v1 motion sensors.
The v1 sensor I had used a plug-in bridge that plugged into the second USB port on the back of a v2 camera.
Maybe there was an older v1 from 2019?
V1 sensors work with the original Bridge that plugs into the camera or with the HMS hub. I have some V1 motion sensors connected to my Hub.
Wow. Guess I need to check mine. I only have 1 v2 left in my portfolio. Thanks.
i still have my 2 with their increased batteries running. I have a v2 in a closet that does nothing but talk to the sensors for automation purposes. but I have mostly gone to tuya switches and bulbs with home assistant doing the controlling
Thanks. I seemed to have misplaced the bridge when I was having issues with the v2 cam. When I thought I heard that it was discontinued, I might have tossed the bridge. The sensor still flashes.
Guess I need to check out Tuya. I am not confident about buying a Wyze hub, yet.
In addition to a mess of v2 sensors, I have 5 v1 contact sensors and a few v1 motion sensors connected to a Sense v2 Hub. They all work great with the Sense v2 Hub… much better than the old Cam v2/Sense v1 bridge.
I have some new (unused) Sense v1 bridges if you still want one.
That would be great.
Let me know the costs in a PM. I should take advantage of your offer since I only have one sensor and one contact-switch left.
Would you happen to have any spare contact switches? I definitely could use the bridge. Thanks @Seapup .
I’ll check that state of my spare v1 contact sensors tomorrow. Most are bricked, but I’m sure I have at least one good spare. Just send me your snail mail address via PM and I’ll send some stuff this weekend.
Thanks. Will do.
Cool, I didn’t know the old v1 sensors would work with the new v2 hub. Probably the push i need to upgrade. Then I can get rid of an old Cam V2 and the bridge plugged into it
