If you’re still confused by this. the “Events” section shows every video clip that has been recorded to the cloud, whether triggered by the motion on the camera, by sound, by a sensor, through IFTTT, etc. It does NOT show recordings from your SD card. Those are viewable under “Playback.” Does that help?
@nerdland - you seem to have a very good understanding of this process. Could you construct and post a graphic flow chart?
Agreed, flowchart would be great. Also some clarity around terminology as that is sometimes not consistently used in forum comments.
For example terms like; “triggers”, “notifications”, “Events”, “motion”, “action”, etc. Some of these have very specific meanings in the Wyze world.
I’m not sure if I understand what you need clarification about. What would you need a flowchart to show specifically? If there’s something I can help clarify, I’m happy to, but I have no idea what “flow” you’re trying to see in a flowchart.
I don’t think “trigger” has a specific meaning in Wyze world. It just means something that causes another thing.
Notifications refer to Android or iOS notifications.
Events refer to the 12-second video clips that are stored in the cloud. (Although if you use the upcoming Complete Motion Capture feature, these may be longer than 12 seconds)
Motion – What needs clarification here? It means motion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Although the detection technology is different on the cameras (pixel based) versus the motion sensors (passive infrared based)
Action – I don’t think this has a specific meaning in Wyze world either. Just the general meaning. Something that happens. In general logic, or in IFTTT, for example, a “trigger” can cause an “action.”
Understood and may be of no value or obvious but as Wyze products/app functionality improves, the use cases/options also become more involved.
For example Wyze triggers or actions can be “initiated” from:
- Camera motion sensor
a) Pixel motion within detection zone overall zone easily viewed from camera/app
b) Sound detection (I think independent or in conjunction with pixel motion) range of detection varies and needs to be tested - Wyze sense motion detection is PIR vs Pixel, range of detection documented but recommend to test each user’s individual placement
a) With PIR motion detection there is no Person notification and no variable zone detection.
- Wyze door/windows open/close detection
- Rules (i.e. turn light bulb on at 7:00 am)
- Schedules (I have not played around much here but I believe these are another Wyze source to iniate an action
- Others?
Then it appears the action iniated depends on particular source. Some drive Events , some drive notifications, some turn Wyze devices on/off, etc.
Some “initiated” actions are related to other actions and some are not.
Again, not sure if a flow chart would help to understand various scenarios would be helpful. Or just listing likely scenarios (as in this forum comments) would be helpful.
A trigger IS the initiation itself. So a trigger (motion trigger, sound trigger, etc) can initiate an action through your rules or settings, or through IFTTT if you’re using that.
I wouldn’t really say that’s accurate. At the very least, you’re wording it in a really confusing way. The motion detector ITSELF does not detect people. That’s true. But if you’re using the motion detector to trigger a recording on the camera, the “person detection” feature should still work as expected if a person appears on the resulting video. As for zones, your statement is accurate. In order to offer that, they’d have to be able to show you some heatmap or some representation of what the motion detector sees, which is not a feature that is currently offered.
Again, you’re making this sound really confusing. As far as I know, any Wyze action can trigger an “event” recording or notification, or turning devices on/off. It just depends how you’ve set up your rules. But you’re saying that “some drive events, etc” as if certain actions ONLY cause events, which is not true. If you can create an event recording with it, you should also be able to get a notification or whatever else you want. It just depends on your preferences in the app.
I don’t even know what you’re trying to say here.
nerdland, thx for replies, must just be me …
If you’re trying to accomplish something specific and need help, why don’t you try to explain what you want to accomplish? It seems like you’re getting confused by the bigger picture.
