If anyone needs it I still have the v3 beta RTSP firmware file. I’m using it on several cams with Blue Iris and it’s fairly stable. I did set up Blue Iris to execute a script that simply opens the rtsp url if BI loses connection to the cam and this seems to re-establish the connection fairly quickly.
I am very curious to see if anyone buys the ‘new’ cameras they are selling , if this old rtsp firmware will work. I doubt it, so it still causes me to not buy anymore cameras from wyse
No, the RTSP firmware was designed with Linux on RISC-V, and the new cams are running RTOS on ARM. It is absolutely impossible for the old RTSP firmware to work on them. They’re entirely different Operating Systems with entirely different chipsets. RTSP Firmware would have to be designed nearly from scratch for this new system. What most people are likely to do is to run it through something like Docker Wyze Bridge or Tiny Cam Pro or similar to convert the native stream to RTSP. People are just waiting for the 3rd party options to support the new cams.
Thanks for making this available. I have two V2s that I have been using with RTSP for some time now. So far, I have been unable to get a V3 to load the RTSP firmware. I put the RTSP .bin on a formatted SD card which I insert in the powered down camera. I then hold the reset while I apply power to the unit. Every time it just does a normal reset and says “ready to connect.” What am I doing wrong?
Did you rename the file? It’s been a while since I applied the firmware but I believe you need to rename it to ‘demo.bin’ before placing it onto the SD card. I do have it running on several V3 cams so I know it works. Good luck!
Well they had a V3 demoFW available awhile ago. I even downloaded it yesterday after 2 days of searching the web and discussion forum. Found the link for V2 very easy but V3 was more difficult.
Just affraid to put the link here because i dont want to be kicked out of this forum for doing so.
demo_v3_RTSP_4.61.0.1.zip and demo_V2_RTSP_4.28.4.41.zip
Well for the V2 i found the hiden link in a forum but for the V3 i did not have the real zip files name so after digging on the web i finally found a topic where the file name was written, Then i used the same url as for the V2 and i substitute the v2 file name for the V3 and bingo the files was downloading.
Hello, i have 3 v2 and 3 v3 Wyze cams that are added in blue iris and they lose signal every few minutes where it’s impossible to capture any motion detection. If anyone has gotten these cams to work with minimal signal loss can you share your settings. The rtsp firmware is installed on both versions. Not sure if it’s the latest version, i believe it is. Thank you
Are those firmware numbers the latest firmware?
If they are my v2 has the same forever however my v3 firmware number ends in .03 instead of .01
Any feedback is greatly appreciated
I would love to be able to stream. We have a farm and want to stream to YouTube or Facebook when we get new babies. Our customers keep asking if we can stream.
All we need is just video and audio, we don’t need to offer any control. We have one PanCam V3 and would like to add more, but don’t see the point if we can’t stream.
i downloaded the Demo_wcv3.bin software from the Zip file Demo_v3_rtsp_4.61.0.1 and copid it to the root of my SD card with the name Dmo.bin. I then removed the camera form my wyze app, rebooted with the RTXP SW and added the camera back into the app. the app finds the camera and adds it with no error but it fails to connect to the camera. when i go into settings, advanced> the RTXP option is not available. Does anyone have any ideas.
Wrong file name. I’m doing this by memory as I can’t look right now, but for a V3 camera, the .bin file needs to be named something different than for a V2 camera. As I recall, the Demo_wcv3.bin that you extracted is correct, but I’m not sure of that. If the option for RTSP was not found, then it would appear that you did not successfully flash the camera with the RTSP firmware. Check firmware version as shown in the app.
BTW, you do not need to delete and re-add the the camera after flashing with RTSP firmware.
Its sort of understandable why Wyze won’t commit to doing RTSP correctly due to lack of profit from a subscription as they are not charging much for the cameras.
Why not just create a subscription for it? It could be a little less than cam plus as users aren’t going to use your disk or bandwidth to store video. Maybe its something that the cam must connect once a year to keep it running or some other way.
You already know how to do the RTSP, so the only thing you need to figure out is how to get paid for it.

Or why not just charge a one-time “RTSP Upgrade” fee to make up for the lost subscription revenue. I have a feeling they won’t get a lot of interest in paying a subscription since the primary motivation for RTSP is to use the camera in a fully local (== not dependent on Wyze) manner. Tying it to a subscription sort of defeats that.
I too support the approach of a one time RTSP feature per camera.
Otherwise future camera sales will drop. RTSP, is a required function in all my future camera acquisitions for any brand. I have 16 cameras in my portfolio, 3 of the WYZE have RTSP firmware with BlueIris local recording. I do not trust clouds. Period!
I agree. I’ve switched to Reolink cameras. I’m tired having to use the Wyze app and the contact nagging to subscribe. I’m looking forward to my Wyze cameras dying so I can replace them with Reolink cameras. I should just sell the Wyze cameras on Craigslist and move on.
Can i ask are the Wyze cams still working in blue iris? I had the rtsp software installed on v2 and v3 cameras and using blue iris but recently they would disconnect and never come back online. I have since reflashed back to original firmware but if your cameras are still working in blue iris with relatively low disconnects, i would consider reflashing and trying to make it work if you would be willing to help.
