Is there a way to delay a set number of seconds the action activation from a motion trigger?
(Yes, I know some people’s wyze products do that already randomly.)
I have a few cameras set up that if 1 detects motion, the others turn on lights and send video clip to the cloud, but the timing on the other wyze cameras is too soon and doesn’t capture the beginning of the motion.
(Yes I can go back later and view the sd card, no I can’t reposition the cameras.)
Ideally I’m trying to get 0.5 to 1.0 seconds (consistently) of delay timing between the motion trigger and the action activation.
(The motion is food/package/mail deliveries on my porch.)
Would this be better in the automations or wish list topic?
I think what you’re asking about has already been requested in at least one Wishlist topic:
I’d be inclined to vote on that one and comment about the specific Action you’d like to see implemented (there’s a long list near the beginning of the topic) plus detail about why (like the use case you mentioned).
Additionally, I recall seeing it mentioned in a related topic that Actions don’t run sequentially:
I don’t know if that’s still the case or not. I haven’t attempted any detailed testing of that specific property of Automations. If Automations still work that way, then including a delay (if you could) wouldn’t have a predictable meaning and wouldn’t meet your requirement for consistency.
I recall being surprised to read at the time that Wyze Automations (Rules then) worked that way (non-sequentially), because I tend to automate things with Google Home, where Actions can be re-ordered and delays can be included in Action sequences. I don’t think expecting steps to execute sequentially is unreasonable.
