Introducing Wyze Bulb Cam and Wyze Accessory Bulb! - 6/3/2025

Sorry for typos. I’m falling asleep .,

If you’re too busy to return and too busy to think about the price before you buy, I don’t think this is Wyze’ fault. And I’m no Wyze apologist.

Yeah . Wyze is perfect and everyone else is at fault . Great !

Vote with your wallet, I say, and don’t blame others for your mistake, especially when you can return and correct the mistake.

What happened, can’t sleep?

You assumed that this is a pant/tilt camera where nowhere in the specs says that it is and this is Wyze’s fault, how?

Thanks. I figured out an automation and it works. However the lights stay on & never turn off. Looks like I gotta figure out another automation lol..

I considered this product as well (I own about 30 Wyze Camera’s, and multitudes of other Wyze non camera products)

After researching this item, extensiviely, I saw that it was not for me.

Was there something on the product page that led you to believe it was a pan/tilt camera?

I see this picture on the current product page, which I interpret as a manual adjustment:

Perhaps that picture wasn’t on the page when you ordered?

EDIT: I didn’t see this, on that picture, because the font is a bit small for my old eyes; in small print: “Manually extend, rotate and tilt the camera to find just the right angle

and the FAQ removes all doubt:

Hopefully the FAQ was present when you purchased the product.

I too have purchased items in the past, not just from Wyze, where the product wasn’t what I thought it was, and returned it, but I don’t think lambasting Wyze in your case is necessarily warranted, if the two items I pointed out where present on their product page at the time of your purchase. (and, I’ve done my share of lambasting when I felt it was warranted)

That’s what I figured would probably happen when I mentioned that above. If you have a spare Wyze Plug or Plug Outdoor, you could use that as a separate trigger in a second Automation to turn the lights off: You’d add an Action to your first automation so that the Plug turns on at the same time as the triggered lights, and then in the second Automation you would TRIGGER WHEN WYZE PLUG Has been on for {however_long_you_set_the_time_for_your_motion_activated_lighting}. Then you have that second Automation turn off both the Plug itself and the lights on the other Bulb Cams.

Great news. I wonder if could include a smart light switch to toggle the light off and on to reset it the morning after.

That sold me on purchasing the camera. Motors wear out. The Field of vision is wide enough I can use tracking and see the entire area.

Too busy? That is one phrase that irks me. Better time management or hire an assistant.

A friend uses that phrase and he is retired like I am.

That would depend on your goal and the type of switch you choose, I’d think. I know you can use a Plug and Automations to toggle the lights on Bulb Cam, because I tested that in another topic. A regular smart switch would likely just turn the circuit’s power on and off, turning the camera on and off at the same time, but I still wonder if it would be possible to use a Wyze Switch’s “Double Press” and “Triple Press” to turn Bulb Cam’s lights (and any linked Accessory Bulbs) on and off while maintaining the circuit power and the camera’s “on” state.

It might not be Wyze’s fault, but he was hardly the only Wyze customer who looked at the pictures that Wyze sent out and assumed it was another pan/tilt design. This isn’t an unreasonable assumption based on the design and the fact that there are dozens of other bulb cameras on the market (mostly at lower prices) and all the other bulb cams on the market are pan/tilt.

I thought the same thing, but I wasn’t so very upset about it because even without pan and tilt the Wyze bulb cam fits my needs and seems to work well.

Assumption on his part or anybody else for that matter is not a reason to get upset at Wyze. The onus is on the customer to do it’s due diligence before purchasing anything.

He’s not too busy prowling the bargain isles of big box stores, but too busy to box it up and drop off at the UPS store.

Just this morning the Bulb Cam outside my garage door captured a pair of people in hoodies walking down the street with flashlights. One of them walked up on the driveway and began to shine his light into the bed of the pickup parked there, and then Bulb Cam and its paired Accessory Bulbs brightened from 40% Ambient Light to 100% based on Person detection, and this person immediately changed direction and increased pace to walk away. I really like those features in these products. :+1:

I was at my neighbourhood Costco yesterday and I saw two pack of these. They have on board Edge AI person detection and real pan and tilt. Something for Wyze to think about. Prices are in Canadian dollars.

Here is a link of the actual product: Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Smart Lightbulb Camera (2-Pack) – Lorex Technology Inc. CA

Interesting.

For me, 360° would be useless against the wall, unless I wanto to check for cracks or bugs. I could see this being useful with a lamp with a 360° view.

The current field of vision of Wyze bulb cam works for me. It shows all of what I want to see at one glance. I am not a fan of motorized cams.

It is too bad they didn’t answer the questions in the comments. Answers would help sell bulbs.

I don’t use Costco so another avenue would be nice.

I sure enjoy my Wyze bulb cam.

If I ever park outside of the garage, I would find a way to wire up a socket for the front yard.

My point is that this camera has more features than Wyze bulb without any subscription for less money. To top it of,f Lorex has a reputation for making professional security cameras with a track record of over three decades. Wyze should keep an eye what their competition is doing.

I’m sure they are available outside Costco.

Amazon sells them. Cheaper, too.

I also saw a two pack TP-Link Tape C120 for CAN$89, same built in Edge AI, pretty much same specs as V4. Wyze should take a note to what the competition is doing.
