Instant Notifications

Wish there was a way to get notifications as soon as motion is detected…by the time the notification comes the assailant is already gone🤷🏾‍♂️

How much delay are you seeing? Mine is 2-3 seconds typically.

If much more than that, it is usually going to be a wifi signal issue. Are you using smart detections (person, package, etc)? If so that will add a bit of delay (and makes wifi signal and upload bandwidth all that much more important).

Also I believe battery cams may have a bit more delay too, not sure which ones you’re using.

They will literally record as long as there is motion whether it be 10 seconds or 95…once the motion stops then the notification comes to my phone…I have the cam v2…doorbell…and solar cam pan by the way🤷🏾‍♂️

Mine notify me at the start of motion within a few seconds at most, but I am using “all motion”, not any smart detections. Smart detection can take longer depending on your wifi and internet.

What you’re describing sounds to me like your upload bandwidth (whether on a weak wifi signal or your internet connection) is being saturated by the video upload, and only once it stops and some bandwidth frees up is the notification able to come through. Just an educated guess though. Or the alternative is that it isn’t anything to do with the video stopping and you’re just associating the long delay with that.

Yeah I only want notifications for ppl not really worried anything else…my signal is strong and my internet is cable…supposed to be around 300mb down/30 up🤷🏾‍♂️

Person detection (and any smart detections) will take longer than regular ones, but it shouldn’t be that much longer, few seconds maybe.

First, “strong” wifi signal does not mean “good” wifi signal. The usable bandwidth may be low.

Second, 30M up really isn’t that much, if other things are using it, or you have multiple cams uploading lots of detections for analysis (person and other smart detections require an upload to wyze for analysis) it could be a bottleneck.

I would change it to “all motion” just as a test. If it improves, you at least know whether it is related to smart detections or not.

I’m running CamPlus Lite (Free) and I have noticed delayed notifications too.

I’m betting us non-paying users are getting Lower Priority.

My Reolink notifications are generally in a few seconds at the worst where as Wyze on the same network is delayed sometimes up to a minute or two in rare cases and 20 seconds on average.

Definitely NOT a Wifi signal or speed issue as Reolink and all other IOT on the same network are fine.

Some people like blaming the install or WiFi before Wyze but it’s Wyze’s servers don’t buy into the BS

I concur the above except my average is 2-3 seconds.

I don’t think so as I’m getting delays on both Cam Lite and Cam Plus. I think the delay is definitely caused by Wyze servers.

Idk what to do to make it a “good" signal…I mean the router is literally 5ft from 2 of the cameras…I will try switching to all motion and see if that helps.

I agree. We shouldn’t buy into your BS. :slightly_smiling_face:

You might try multiple cameras with somewhat overlapping views. I have Cam Plus Lite Person Notifications which I consider fairly fast.

The bottom right camera overlooks my backyard. The other 3 cameras have overlapping views of my front yard. When sitting in my backyard with my iPad, I will get a Person Notification from my front yard cameras. By the time I look up, I can see them walking by my backyard fence.

Multiple cameras with overlapping views may be a bandaid fix for your delay of Notifications.

Close to the router or high signal level doesn’t mean quality signal. If the channel or band is over saturated you’ll have connectivity issues. I’m not saying that you do as I don’t know your network situation.

When I first started this game I was having all sorts of issues and it took me some time to figure out that it wasn’t all Wyze. Most of it was a combination of ISP and ISP supplied hardware. Once I narrowed down the issue and switched ISPs and swapped my own hardware, issues went away. Food for thought.
