If you search internet for “how much of body weight is due to bones for humans”, you will get 15% as answer.
However, I am 154 lb. and for me wyze-scale report bone mass as 7.7 lb which is about 5%. So I am trying to understand why there is such a disconnect.
Thanks,
Anand
Hi Anand. I am a brand new user. but I think the difference in Bone Mass and Bone Weight is:
Bone Mass is an estimate of the dry weight of bones and is typically 3-5% of total weight.
When you see people saying 15% of total body weight, that includes water contained within the bone.
FYI, Bones are actually very dynamic organs.
Thanks! That might explain the difference.
