Never seen one do this before. And it is definitely not cold here.

It almost looked like it was passing out at a couple of points.
That was a great closeup view.

I have no idea what it was doing. Do they puff up to make themselves look bigger when there’s a threat?

For some reason I can’t view the video on my phone. I tap on it and it does nothing. Will have to try from my desktop.

@carverofchoice can you fix my video? Or can you get someone to fix it? I have that issue where I upload something and it’s like the wrong codec or something.

How’s this?

It happens whenever I share something that I recorded from playback to the forum. Usually one of the mods catches it and fixes it. I don’t know if it’s an android issue or what. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Thanks @Antonius!

Yeah, I learned to just upload to youtube and then share the link. Sometimes, I just make it shareable to the Wyze forum only.
I have also noticed that I can’t upload a small file here from my phone anymore. Even for one that’s only 1mb.

Calling @Seapup now. He’s been our primary codec medic to resolve the original posts.

(I just downloaded it to watch it)

Bird guy here. I have a Blue and Gold Macaw, and he’s been my buddy for over 20 years. I got him a month before 9/11.

Birds poof up like that for a variety of reasons. The bird in the video, I would guess, isn’t feeling well. Its mannerisms are consistent with being sick. My bird doesn’t puff up feathers to be threatening, he spreads out his wings, which are pretty huge, when he feels threatened. Another reason they puff up is as a reaction to someone preening them, or if they want to be preened. This is the usual reason I see that puffing behavior, but I have to be standing like a foot away from him before he’ll get poofy. If I ask him about “skritchie”… He’ll puff up his feathers immediately, like when someone gets goosebumps, but it is gone a second later. For the puffyness to remain, like in the video, I have to be be preening him. Birds usually preen each other around dusk. They congregate, socialize and preen each other till it gets dark. When it’s bedtime, my bird poofs up a lot in anticipation of going to sleep. The video bird might be sick, scared, or sad. It looked like he was sleepy too, so he might have been off his game cause he got spooked the night before, or awakened early.

She”s doing that because of the sun hitting her there… It’s a sun bath that helps deal with mites in her feathers.

A bird is a bird. I guess they do the same as my chickens.

I’ve seen many birds do this after bathing.
