Home Monitoring Sense Hub & Keypad - Chime when Doors/Windows are opened

I just got my home monitoring bundle, set-up just about an hour ago.
I agree with this.
HOME mode should be different from AWAY mode.
HOME mode should NOT call NOON or emergency.
HOME mode should be a simple sound notification like a BEEP or DING.
“DING, motion is detected in living room”
“DING, slide door is open.”

For now, I can say that the HOME mode is useless for the person inside the home.

You can customize the Home and Away modes inside the app (e.g. what sensors are relevant, how long the alarm delay is, etc) so Home is great for setting an immediate alarm when contact is opened and Away could be set with a delay (to allow you time to enter the home).

Previously I had set up a routing in my Alexa app to play a chime when one of my door opens/closes…but the routine did not work. I saw someone in this thread mention that there was an update that allowed a chime (or other sound depending of what you choose) to be heard from Alexa when a sensor goes off.
IT’S WORKING NOW!!

It’s easy to create a routine in the Alexa app. But I still would like the Monitoring Sense Hub to play the chime but for now Alexa will work for me (better than nothing). The only limitation with Alexa (nothing to do with Wyze) is that if you have multiple Alexa devices (I have 2 Echo Dots and 1 Fire TV), you can only pick one of the device to play the chime. I have two story house, so I have to decide whether the chime is heard from the Alexa device downstairs or upstairs!!

Maybe a workaround would be to create duplicate routines and set different devices to play the chime. Will have to test that out

Yep, Alexa routines are working now. Set up a duplicate routine for each additional Alexa equipment. The only issue with Alexa routines is the delay. Hopefully Wyze updates with a localized chime at the keypad for quicker reaction when the contact is open.

How long is the delay?

About 2 seconds. Sometimes it’s pretty quick but it is often a couple of seconds

You shouldn’t even have to be in “Home” mode for this feature to be a thing. This should be a “Disarmed” feature. “Home” on any system I’ve seen means the system is armed with motion sensors off, so people inside the house won’t trigger an alarm, but the home is still protected from a perimeter breach. (i.e. someone opens a door while everyone is asleep)

I like that Wyze gives you the ability to choose which sensors do what depending on the mode you’re in. In my case, I set up “Home” mode to not trigger alarms with motion sensors.

*UPDATE * my alexa routines have started working now, so now I have a door chime workaround for the time being. It works really well too, not much of a delay. I would still prefer this feature to be contained within the home monitoring setup though.

I cannot get mine to work. Can you step me through it? I have the skill enabled and set for garage door open - alexa says “garage door open”. I can test in Alexa app and the message is presented thru the echo dot, but when I try opening the garage door (from house to garage) nothing happens. Please help.

Did you set up the routine in the Alexa app?

yes, turned on wyze skill, and set up in alexa app to announce on echo dot when “Cabana Door is Open”. Then tested it in alexa and alexa announced the action on the echo dot. But in actual use, when i open the cabana door, nothing happens. What am i doing wrong?

It’s an Alexa Routine. Try setting up under the routines section

Also make sure both Alexa app and wyze app are fully updated

I did set up as Alexa routine, went through the steps to set one up when door is opened and tested it within Alexa and alexa announced the msg on the echo dot, but when trying the door to test, nothing happens. Again, I am looking for a step by step list of how to set one up. Someone told me that theirs would not work for awhile then suddenly started working. My Wyze Thermostat can be controlled via alexa. and that works fine. Not sure what my problem is.

The home monitoring is not yet working with Alexa controls but the chimes are now working for established routines in the Alexa app, they were not working until recently but now they are and it sounds like you’ve already set them up.

So how do I set up the chime?

Use your Alexa app and establish a routine. Once you choose which contact will activate the routine, you then choose what you want Alexa to do or say and where you wanna hear the notification/chime.

  1. Make sure the device is added to the Alexa app and is showing on your device list.
2.in the Alexa app hit the more button then routines
  2. Hit the plus sign in the top right corner to add a routine
  3. Enter a routine name
5.select when this happens then choose smart home
6.select your device from the list and then select open/close option
7.choose add action, you can choose Alexa says or sounds
  4. then choose the from device
  5. The routine will now show on your routine list. Test the routine by hitting the play button

Excellent guideline, but will not work. I followed your guide all the way through and saved it and tested it. It works in Alexa app. So I close the app and try the door to force the message, and nothing happens. My routine was to sound a chime when the Cabana Door Sensor is broken. Again I tested it and it chimes when testing in the alexa app, but no sound when I actually open the door.
What am I missing?

I set both chimes and Alexa speaks, but neither works when I open the specified door. I can test it in the alexa app and it works for both chime and speak, but not when door is opened. What Am I doing wrong?
