I saw this today on a BCPro and was confused that it was toggled on by default.
I do kind of like the option to pick which cameras use it and which don’t.
I am happy for you both but am still at a loss… of the ability to experience smooth app performance. 
I mean, 7 years is pretty old for a phone, I tend to keep mine a long time, but my current Pixel 4a 5G is probably my record at 4 years now.

Fair enough, maybe there’s a reason they can’t or don’t want to restore hardware decoder as an option with #1 best-selling home security cam in the country, v3, as they have with the newer cams.
I’m curious: what is it? (rhetorical)
It would seem a trivial change to make but maybe it isn’t. 
Considering it just reappeared on the Panv3 and the v4, maybe the v3 is in the works (different interface, maybe different team needs to update it).
BTW, the developers’ option workaround didn’t have any staying power. Ephemeral.
