My new Solar Pan Cams don’t seem to follow anything going by. I have two of them and it’s the same problem with both. They hardly move when something goes by. They don’t seem to track. I can manually move them around, but they do not react at all like all my other regular plug in pan cams. What gives? Anyone else have this problem. I’ve tried several different setting and still the same. I h
Would need more information on what “different setting” you tried?
Keep in mind battery powered cams conserve power and may take longer to detect an object, and may be less sensitive too. With the newer pan cams having “smart tracking” that can also impact it too, if it can’t identify the object as a “person” or whatever you choose, it wont track it.
I’m talking about things like: Setting a near and or far, motion sensitivity, motion tracking, recoding all events, or smart detection, track person on, or track person off. All the different settings available. I’ve tried many different setups.
The battery cams (and as far as I know the solar cam pan) uses PIR (an infrared sensor) to detect motion and “wake up”. PIR has a limited range/distance, and also is more sensitive to stuff walking across the field of view, rather than toward or away from it. How far away are the objects you’re trying to track?
Also note that glass will block the PIR sensor from working but I’m assuming if you’re using the solar cam that it is mounted outside and not behind glass? Did you remove the protective plastic from the face of the cam (that would also potentially interfere)?
