Giving new camera (just ordered, not received) to daughter at her house

Welcome to the Forum, @sea93ok!

If she’s going to be setting it up herself, then she’ll just need to download the Wyze app, create a Wyze account for herself, sign into the app using those credentials, and use the normal in-app device add process to setup the Cam.

If you want to configure the Cam before giving it to her, then there are probably several ways to do this. Feel free to tell me where I’m going wrong and correct me or adjust as necessary, because I’m going to start with some assumptions:

  • You’re already a Wyze user.
  • You’re having the camera delivered to your home, not your daughter’s.
  • You want to set up the Cam and have it configured for your daughter so that she can just plug it in at her house and expect it to work immediately.

This is what I’d probably do:

  1. Obtain the SSID and password for your daughter’s home Wi-Fi network if you don’t already have that.
  2. Obtain your daughter’s Wyze account credentials if she has one. If she doesn’t have a Wyze account, then create one for her with whatever e-mail address she wants to use for her Wyze account. (I would’ve suggested using an e-mail address that you control so that she can change the e-mail address on the account later—to her own e-mail address—once she has the Cam, but when I checked my own account on the Wyze Web site just now it appears that I’m unable to change my e-mail address, so that doesn’t seem to be an option.)
  3. Set up a second Wi-Fi network at your home using your daughter’s Wi-Fi credentials from Step 1. If you’re using a router that allows this (i.e., one with a guest network capability), then that might be the easiest way. Alternatively, if you have an old wireless router that works, then you could set that up to mimic your daughter’s Wi-Fi using her SSID and password. If that’s not available, then you could set up a mimic/clone network using a phone hotspot. The path you choose here depends on what you have available.
  4. Log into the Wyze app using your daughter’s Wyze account from Step 2.
  5. Set up the Cam on this clone network.
  6. Deliver the Cam to your daughter.
  7. If you had to create a new Wyze account for your daughter in Step 2, then give her the credentials for this account.

I think that should work, but it’s hard to know without more detail about what you’re trying to accomplish and what you’re working with.
