I wouldn’t be opposed to a hub if one hub provided the coverage I need and the hub served more than Smart Buttons.

Sorry, I told them, No. They have waited to long to make this useful considering there’s other choices in different price ranges that do the same AND are already available.
Move on to some of the other things on the wishlist that no one still is doing. Like the Peep-hole camera, Camera lens that is separated from the body of the main part so it can be concealed or “hidden in plain sight”.

@Crease, A button big enough for a dog’s paw? I think you could look at the old Alexa smart button they made briefly. I bought a pair a while back on eBay for $25 just to play with. Executes an Alexa routine. One function, “one-click”, but I think it would hold up to a dog’ stepping on it.

I LOVE WHAT YOU DID. And I agree with your concern as to Wyze moving away from Smart Home stuff. I too replied near the bottom of this thread. They waited too long. No point in a Wyze button. There are other choices. So Wyze …. go work on other stuff on the wishlist that we have asked for, for a long time that no one is still not doing.
I had not idea you could use the Aqara button with Home Assistant. I’ve been working on Home Assistant and moving away from Wyze, because they ditched Home Assistant years ago. Thanks for that lesson. I’ve been using Flic 2 button. Expensive, but Love them. I used the much like you do, via Alexa. AGAIN, THANKS.
Yes, I’ve sketched some ideas on paper where a housing would surround Plug Outdoor and the cover would essentially be a large hinged paddle that allows the user to select which of the two buttons is pressed when sufficient force is applied. My thinking is that if it’s built properly, a dog wouldn’t have to put much weight on the paddle to trip the switch and initiate a Google Home routine.
The Alexa buttons are an interesting idea, but I have more Google Home smart speakers than Amazon Echos in the home, so I’d prefer a Google Home routine for better announcement coverage. (Yes, I know I could use a Wyze Plug as a bridge from Amazon Alexa to Google Home.) The idea of the Plug Outdoor appeals to me because it’s already a fairly robust device and because I have a couple that I picked up on clearance at Home Depot once, but they mostly sit in a drawer until I need to test something or require a logical switch for an Automation.

I always thought, and still do to this day, that the peephole camera was a great idea. I don’t live in an apartment or rental, but I would buy one for the front door peephole. Easy sell.

Yep. I want three-four. I want to drill 3/4” holes in the 10-12” wide boards outside my garage door. I want the cameras to “face each other” across the garage door way (when the door is closed, of course) to record “things” going past my doorway. And mount on my gate facing the street. Of course also, the front and rear doors. How long as the fisheye lens non-recording peep-hole been around with no improvement?

I don’t know how to use or what the smart button is for, but I would love to have a smart button to turn off and on specific cams which would completely turn it off, including viewing the cam and recording until I turn it back on. Thank you!
