Detection Zones in WCO Settings

Whats the difference between setting detection zones in these 2 areas of the Outdoor Cam? I just set one of these up over the last week and i am still getting use to the different settings it has in comparison to the others that i have had for years.

The top picture showing the detection zone looks like it is all blacked out so it will not detect motion in that area, Is that your intent? The light area in this shot is the detection area, I tried to block getting alerts from the tree moving, it didn’t work.
