Just got my Bulb cam, and for the most part I’m loving it. So easy to set up.
Now I have a problem though. I’m using it above my front door. I live in an apartment building that has 3 apartments, all with our own outside door, so this is good (so far).
Where I have it covers outside my door, the area my rubbish bins are in, and the mailboxes (sweet, all 3 in one cam!). It also covers a bit of sidewalk and street in front of the building.
If I setup a detection zone for notifications (narrowing it to the door/bins/mailbox area) it seems motion is not detected anywhere else after setting that up. Is this correct? I only want motion alerts in the detection zone, but I want it to record ANY motion it sees, even outside the “detection zone”. Is that even possible?
The way it is now I cannot turn on notifications because I have to turn off detection zone (otherwise I get a notification every time a car passes the buidling, or someone walks by n the sidewalk).
With the Pan cams, it also needs a “motion tracking” zone. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll see it anytime soon.
I know the Blink cams have two different zones, a detection zone and a “privacy” zone. I can’t recall exactly what the difference is but it may be something along those lines, alert but don’t record or something.
I’m not sure if I understand this part of your problem:
You should be able to enable notifications and the Detection Zone while having the Detection Zone respected for events and notifications, but that doesn’t seem to be what you’re describing. If you haven’t yet found a satisfactory solution, then sharing some details about your settings (screenshots can be especially helpful) might assist those who wish to help.
