I keep an old pair of outside only shoes on the back patio. This morning when I went out to fill the bird feeder there was only one shoe–so I looked at my patio camera recordings and found the culprit, a coyote. I found the shoe about 30 ft away in the grass. Video link follows

Maybe it smelled like a dead cat? ![]()

He heard shoes help humans run faster so maybe it will help him keep up with road runner too.
No coyote stealing around my house. Just hunting and potty training.
That looks like a fox to me. Note the dark “stockings” on the legs and the coloring and shape of the tail.
When I first looked at it on my cell phone I was unsure if it was a fox or coyote, but looking at it on my computer it seemed too tall for the foxes I usually see in my area, hence my thought that it was a coyote. However after looking at numerous fox and coyote photos, and seeing no coyotes with dark leg “stockings”, I agree with mvb: it is a fox.
I updated the subject line accordingly
My Wyze v3 captured this animal on my driveway in 2024. There was lots of discussion of what type of animal it was when originally posted
What was it?
I had a fox run through my driveway 2 weeks ago. This one was caught by a Wyze Spotlight V2.
I think it’s either a Lynx ot Bobcat, depending on the region.
Without a doubt, that is a fox.
That was the guesses back in 2024. I am in Oregon if that helps you narrow it down.
I would say it’s a bobcat. Lynx are found in Canada and states that border Canada.
New year, new dog toy! ![]()
I think this one last spring was looking for rabbits, not shoes:
