Control notifications on a per-phone/tablet basis

I use the Wyze app on my phone and on a tablet. I have multiple cameras around the house. The tablet is dedicated to showing me my driveway cam. The way the Wyze app is coded now any changes on one copy are mirrored on the other one. As things are now I get all notifications on the tablet where I only want the driveway cam notifications. I think the ability to have different copies of the app would be a very useful ability. Please consider making the apps stand-alone!

On the suggestion of @Crease, I’ve moved your topic to the Wishlist category of the forum. You can read about how that works here.

The topic will be reviewed by Wyze and categorized as to likelihood of eventual implementation. My personal guess (I’m not a Wyze employee and have no sway in the decision) is that it will not be implemented. The reason I say this is that it would require sweeping changes to the structure of the server and the app.

That said, here’s some hopefully good news. I think there’s a workaround for your specific case. What you can do is:

  1. create a 2nd Wyze account using a different email address.
  2. log into that account only on the tablet.
  3. share the driveway camera from your main account (logged in on your phone) to the 2nd account which is logged in on the tablet. (This is found under Account > Sharing in the app.)
  4. make sure notifications are turned on for the driveway cam (via your phone)
  5. the tablet will then only show notifications for the driveway cam since it is the only cam on the 2nd account.

Because of the way sharing works, you will only be able to control the notification settings from the driveway cam via your phone. And you will still get those driveway cam notifications on your phone. But if I’m reading your post correctly, I think this workaround solves your issue.

Speaking of sharing, there’s a long standing wishlist topic about more control over shared user’s permissions which is somewhat related. You may want to hop over to that topic and vote for it.

Thanks Loki. I will try that idea.
