Congratulations, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Forum Badges Awarded, Achievements, Celebrations, etc 🎉

I think I can live with that

The only good thing about holidays is the day off

My youngest daughter shares the same birthday as me and she won’t let me forget it for as long as I live. She loves her birthdays

You better run and hide because I am coming after you

Now that is something I can definitely live with hoofs or not

Thank you all for heartfelt wishes and likes. Lets just go and solve some Wyze problems and forget all about me :bowing_man:

Every day is a holiday when you retire. That is an enjoyable milestone.

The trick is to find something to keep you busy. I know few people who went back to work after retirement cause they were bored to death.

Yup. I used to stay busy with my chickens, and making stuff. Now I’m in Calif with my almost 97 yr old mother, thinking of what I’ll do next, as I sit here knitting fingerless gloves for my sister. Next will be documenting ancestors photos. Lots of relaxing days, though. At least I’m not shoveling snow.

Yeah, not a big fan myself either. I have a snowblower and didn’t use it at all last winter and none so far. Not enough snow to make it worth starting it up.

Happy Forumversary @habib!

I’m gonna be one of those people who just work until they die :joy:

Thanks.

Me too

I love my job!

I love mine, too. Been working there since 2001, though moved into what I’m currently doing back in 04… And still over 25 years to go before I could even think about retiring. :joy:

Opportunity to do either is nice. Winning lotto can bring problems, but I’d try it.

We had a little snow right after I left my place. I saw it on the Wyze cams. But it melted a few days later.

Currently 86 degrees F and no snow.

Sometimes I miss snow.

Those problems I can live with

Steve, didn’t you mention at one time you were in Florida?

I’ve been in the same industry since 1984 and self employed since 1997. Have no desire to retire any time soon

Got snow blade for ATV, been out all day.

Yes. In South Florida cold is a relative term. We made it down to 50°F as a low over the last couple weeks, during the evenings. Last snow was only seen in the sidewalk cracks in 1977 for about 15 minutes.

Today it is 86°F. North Florida does get snow, but we are fairly warm down here. Locals can be seen wearing jackets when it’s under 60°F.

I attended the 1989 inauguation of George Bush Sr. outside on the mall. It was 15°F. That was cold for me.

This photo sums it up…

Couldn’t imagine.

I retired @ 46, 18 years ago and wish I had retired at 40. Work is a means to an end, not a life to live.
I get asked frequently to “come onboard” with projects, but I just honestly could not be bothered at any salary.

Job was fine. It’s the people I didn’t like.

They also frowned on taking naps.

I retired at 62 and don’t regret it at all.

Three friends said they loved their job and would work to 70. One died at 65. Others still going strong. Definitely a personal decision. Definitely save all you can and invest wisely.

Still a youngster.

I’m in public service, so I get a feeling of pride knowing that I’m helping others. The pay isn’t great (I’d make more in the private sector), but the benefits aren’t terrible. I get a lot of vacation time since I’ve got so many years in, and I use it well (we road tripped route 66 for our honeymoon, and plan to do it again in 2026 over 15 or 16 days), and usually take 3 week long vacations and a few extended weekends every year.

I’d like to get to a place where my husband can retire early, since he does a much more physical job, but I definitely know that at least for now, I cannot imagine retiring. I just don’t think I’d get the mental stimuli I need to feel happy.

I have a great work life balance, from my perspective. I’m definitely a work hard play harder kinda person. We travel, relax, and have a lot of fun. Maybe I’ll change my mind, maybe I won’t, but for now I’m a happy camper.
