Cannot SEND verification code to email

Trying to open the App on my Tablet, it wants me to sign in for some reason.
It won’t accept my password even though I know it’s correct.
I tell it I forgot password.
It asks for my email address but then it tells me it Cannot send verification code to email.
What’s up?

What does Support say? In a case like this, I’d go to the official channel first.
