Cam V4 Time Lapse Not Working

I just purchased a v4 specifically to use for time lapse (hoping the video looks better than the v3 I’ve been using). The problem is when I start a time lapse and set it to run for a few days, then go back to view cameras, when I go back into the v4 camera a few minutes later it does not have a time lapse running. Is this a known bug?

My v4 works fine but I haven’t recorded more than a day. The file is almost too big at 1 day.

Interesting, I wonder what the issue is here then. I typically set it up to take a photo once every 15-20 minutes.

Sounds like that should work.

I will have to try that myself. I usually take a photo every 3 seconds for a several hours, but not much more than 12 hours.

Does it fail right away or do you find out in a few days?

It says it started but, when I go to another camera, then back to the one I set it to run on and select time lapse it isn’t running and has the controls to set another one one up. It does t his every time no matter how long I wait.

Has support given you any clues or directions to try?

I will set mine up as a test. Although having mine work does nothing for you. Maybe we can prove it is a bug.

I haven’t contacted support directly yet. I figured I’d post here first and see if anyone else is having the issue first.

Mine started at 3:50 pm today. Let’s see how it goes, but don’t wait for me.

I believe it is still running at this time.

Still keeps ticking. I was hoping it would be done today.

So weird, I wonder what the issue is with mine. Do you have Cam Plus? I don’t for this camera so I’m hoping they haven’t made time lapse a Cam Plus feature. I am running the current version of the iOS app, and the camera is running the current firmware, so I’m not sure what else to try. I also just realized that I don’t even have to switch cameras to break it. I can set the time lapse start/end/interval, press set and see it running, and then if I go back to the live view and select time lapse again it is no longer running.

No subscriptions or even lite.

I was hoping someone would chime in by now.

I do have the camera running on a small UPS.

Just noticed you said your are using iphone. I am using an Android. Could be a difference but hopefully it is not OS specific.

Today’s update:

Still recording.

Looking forward to see how it turns out.

I never ran a timelapse so long.

I hope I can download it tomorrow evening.

Even when I’ve had successful time lapse recordings I’ve never been able to view or download them from the app. I’ve always had to remove the micro SD card and transfer them to a PC.

I could understand that. How large were they? It should be done after running some errands today.

I typically run them for a month with one snapshot every 15-20 minutes and the file size (for cam v3) is around 200MB.

I run daily 3 sec time lapse over night , they end up at around 1.6Gb in size , they do download, although it takes for ever ( I mean hours ! ) . I do find that some days the time lapse function doesn’t work or you don’t get an output. Can’t find a pattern why ?? these cameras are defiantly very unreliable …

It Worked!

My first 5-day time lapse. It was only 54 MB.

This does not fix your issue, but it doesn’t seem to be a global bug. I set it for 20 minute captures over 5 days, I think it was 5 days. Download was quick but I had a difficult time reading white letters on a light background*.

    • Most annoying and often reported bad idea of putting light text on a light background.

Thanks for letting me know! I need to just contact support and see what they say. This seems like an issue with either the iOS app or with my camera.

You’re most welcome. I was curious. I might have to schedule a weekly timelapse for my records. I just assumed the file would be too large to download.
