Spotlight timer on the v3Pro is useless in night mode. Regardless of setting the spotlight does not turn off after the allotted time. 15, 30 secs or minutes the spotlight stays on for endless intervals until manually tyrned off or it decides it’s been on long enough.the cam functions flawlessly for all other features except for the spotlight. Anyone else withbthis issue and have found a solution? Please post if so. Thanks for your responses.
I don’t have that particular camera model, but I’m curious about something, because I think others might ask: Are you trying to control the spotlight via Cam v3 Pro’s settings or via Automation? On my Wyze Cams that have spotlights (Cam OG and Cam v4), I tend not to use the spotlights much, but I’m aware that sometimes there are issues with getting these to activate at all, so some users control them with Device & Service Trigger Automations instead of relying on the Cams’ plugin settings. Clarifying that might be a good start, or if you’re doing it one way then you could try the other instead.
Since I don’t have one of these, I’m not sure what options the UI gives you, so I can’t reliably give you specific advice, and I don’t want to try to make too many assumptions about what it might look like based on the UIs of other Cams, because we know how Wyze is with in-app consistency.
I had 2 OGs (now just 1) with an automation for 1 minute (the minimum) when motion is detected, and up until like a year ago, occasionally (but not that often) I would find the “reverse” automation had not run, particularly on one of them that had a pretty weak wifi signal. My suspicion was that the commands were actually sent from the “cloud” and not stored in the cam itself and that they did not validate that the action had actually completed, so sometimes the signal was an issue. However at some point they seem to have dome something as it stopped happening on both OGs, and has never happened on the v4 that replaced one of them (and the other OG that is still in place either).
Since you’re saying 15 or 30 seconds I’m guessing you aren’t using the automation but rather the built in one. Wonder if the automation would work better? I prefer the automation as it does not rely on ambient light, I can just set it from midnight to sunrise and the 1 minute time is fine. Might be worth a shot to see if the automation somehow works better.
I’m using the spotlight timer in the cam setting. Didn’t think about an automation for the timer. I’m going using the timer based on motion detection. The spotlight is activating for motion that is outside of the detection zone I have set.The automation may be worth a try though and I’ll set that up tomorrow and see if the results are better. I’ll post if the results improve. Thanks all for the feedback.
