I received the battery cam pro on November 6 there was two of them. It is now December 5 and I have already had to fully charge one of them twice and the battery is already at 53% this morning. I have done everything from turning the floodlight off, redoing the settings, making sure the road is blocked out messing with the sensitivity, and it is still dying faster than it should. The other camera is on 63% and I have not charged it once. My return window is December of 6. I’m beginning to wonder if I just should return them and figure out how to get a wired camera system. I do not have outlets outside of my house, but I’m pretty sure there’s something that you can find to where you’re not having to run multiple lines through your door to get them to work. Any advice on either subject.
Just trying to get more of an understanding of your setup before making randomized suggestions.
Do you have an SD card in them and set to continuously record?
Do you have Cam Plus associated to the devices?
Is it cold in your area, unfortunately this can lead to faster battery drain if so.
I also highly recommend the addition of the solar panels for the Wyze Cam Outdoor Pro.
Highly agree with the solar panel. Works for me in the northeast. Make sure the orientation to the sun is maximized. If viable, use flat usb cable thru window with a 5v/2A outlet adapter. 20-30ft cable would work ideally with the usb-c connector. The battery can be removed or remain in the BCP. I operate w/o the battery for the wired connection. Good cable choices on Amazon, also for the power adapter, if you can manage the wired configuration.
Are you using Cam Plus with “smart detection”? If so, while that may “hide” events from you, it still chews up battery to upload and analyze the events, even if you don’t see them.
The others have made great points also, cold will reduce battery life, as will continuous recording to SD card (that will burn through a battery in under a day in many cases).
With the battery cams it is a tightrope walk between battery life and catching what you want to catch. If you’re able to get power in the area, I’d recommend returning them and going with V4s or even OGs, both have very good image quality and you never have to worry about batteries. If not, adding a solar panel as they suggested is another great option.

Not intending to create negative discourse, but your edits and deletions appear to be very arbitrarily and unevenly administered. Need I point to some conversations, just this week, that went beyond “Keep it tidy” and “Always be civil”. The applications should be fair and non-discrimatory across the board.
We all appreciate the existence of the Forum and the platform it presents. Yes, there is the occasional and often frequent straying (violations), but apply the guidelines, if you must, openly and democratically.
Thanks for “listening”. You may wish to move my comments to another topic thread.
It probably depends on who flags what, OP or someone else may have taken offence to my levity. Whatever, is what it is.
I always welcome the feedback. Please understand that we try to ensure forum topics remain on task and seldom deviate from the topic itself. We always welcome forum members to provide responses as they see fit as long as it conforms to the Community guidelines.
However, when a topic is flagged, we need to review and determine the best course of action, if any. I believe the responses to the OP are spot on. I think we have a great and supportive community as shown by the valuable options to try.
However, based on the flag and review, it was determined to remove the content and to delete the posts which would no longer make sense.
As stated above, I appreciate your comments and feedback.
Thank you for the response. Although I think it spoke more to the process and less to my comments, I fully understand and appreciate the diplomatic approach.
Is a topic being flagged the by-product of an AI process? If so, might I suggest that additional refining, i.e. learning is needed in it’s development.
Actually, the flagging of a post could be automated or by another community member. In both cases, we need to review the report to determine the best course of action.
I understand what you are saying though.
Please see “How do I make the v4 cameras good?”; if you have not already. I rest my case. I remain an engaged participant in the Forum and hopefully a positive contributer.
If you flag a post there, they’ll take action on it. Someone flagged on here, same thing.
Sort of like the police around here, they let things go until someone complains.
Having bought 2 battery cam pros a few weeks ago I can tell you that the BATTERY is likely the issue.
Obviously both batteries were brand new, but one of them lasted a grand total of 4 days before it wouldn’t hold a charge at all. The other battery (and camera) is still going strong. The solar panel does in fact provide enough juice to keep the camera continually charged. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it under 60% at a any time. BTW - both use a solar panel - as it was a “packaged deal” for each. And “YES”, I did use the a/c cable as well for the “bad” battery, but sadly, it was a goner.
For the record, I do have an SD card and Cam Plus for each, And I use the “Events Only” option under the “Advanced Settings” rather than the “Continuous” option. Though I’m going to try using that option some day just to see how fast it drains the battery. I did notice that it will give you a warning if you do hit the “Continuous” option. But I’m just curious to see…
It’d be nice if you could simply get a replacement for just the battery (from where ever you purchased it) but I don’t believe it works that way unfortunately.
Good luck!
Were they Wyze bundles and are you beyond the 30 day return window? Contact support and get ticket logged for the 1 year warranty. If another retailer, find out what your return options are for replacement or refund.
Bought it thru Amazon, so it’s already been sent back. I have a feeling it’d be quite the ordeal to try and return anything bought directly from Wyze. Or at least MORE of an ordeal than dealing w/ Amazon.
Agreed. Many of my cams bought thru Amazon and believe it or not, Home Depot. They have had some great “Special Buy” sales on Wyze cams and have a no hassle return policy.
