Cam Pan v3 Ideas (E.g., outdoor rating, optical zoom, etc.)

This is what I want for the cam pan v3…

Directional sound detection, you might not need 4 microphones since powerful software can sometimes make up for hardware, but the whole point of the PAN cam is so that the camera can turn to the object detected so we need it to know the direction the sound came from. Improved sound quality overall also.

Swivel head not base, presently I can’t put the camera any closer without getting in the way of its pan feature so instead of the base, the head or camera area should be the one moving. If the camera head is built smaller than the body it won’t be obstructed. In version 3 movement needs to be smoothed out, less doing the robot and more of a moonwalk lol.

360 degree motion detection, like the sound above the camera should detect movement all around it not just where it’s FOV is pointed. Again, so it can PAN to the source.

Camera eye, now it can track up/down and right/left to reduce the need to pan somewhat which will allow it to act more like how we track things with our eyes, before we turn our head we move our eyes. So, some degree of x and y movement, again…slow and smooth not drudged out paranoia lol.

Video capability, 2.7k at 30fps with 3x optical zoom and 3x digital. Optical is by far superior and should be prioritized over digital…while some digital is ok. Listen, I will settle for 2x and 3x but that’s it…or I will walk out of this dealership right now…sorry, bad flash back lol. It’s just not about resolution so please focus on clarity, I’ve seen 2.5k cameras look better than 4K so keep that in mind.

Track and zoom, with these new features the cam pan 3 would be able to (user customizable, can’t stress how customized options can make or break a product) track better and zoom in on the object so that important details are not lost.

Cost, keep it reasonable…Arlo likes to charge you the maximum with so so results, Wyze is focused on bang for your buck which is fantastic. No, it does not have to sell for $19.99 but it shouldn’t sell for $200 per camera either.

[Mod Edit]: Title and request text modified from Pan Cam 2.0 to Cam Pan v3.

love your ideas … drawings are brilliant
i want to add super-rez to the mix … multiple low resolution images ( possibly with sub-pixel shifts ) are combined to produce higher resolution ( possibly using AI techniques ) see Super-resolution imaging - Wikipedia

Interesting link, never heard of it. Wyze has made me a big fan so I presented this here because I want THEM to succeed. Reolink cameras at 2.5k or so look better than Arlo at 4K so thats why I say 2.7k would be enough if done right and the reolink optical zoom almost sold me so for their next cameras they need to step it up in terms of quality and fps, we dont need 60fps like a dash cam “should have” but 15fps kinda sucks and its the ONE thing that almost made me go with someone else.

It would be super cool that Wyze Pan could turn to were a sound originates… Its that even possible :joy:

Optical Zoom Pan camera

are there any plans to create a camera that can tilt (already done), pan (already done), + OPTICAL ZOOM?

Zoom would be great on an OUTDOOR PAN CAM!

outdoor application is exactly what i had in mind.

@rem736, you didn’t specify that you wanted an outdoor Pan camera with your Wishlist request. Is that what your intention was?

i got one of those third party rubber skins and applied it over an existing pan scan camera and hooked it up in my backyard. so i’m good with turning an indoor camera into an outdoor camera.

however, the fact that the usb port is expose may eventually be an issue.
so if there is an official outdoor version with pan/scan/optical zoom, i would consider it.

There is a separate Outdoor Pan cam thread you might want to look at.

I would love to have a physical hardware zoom added to these cameras. The software zoom is pretty much a joke. No detail at all, and no way to record anything while zoomed.

Can’t record while zoomed? That’s not cool! The firmware ought to just record the full view, even if you only are viewing a smaller portion of it

The processor can do multiple streams, I would assume not all streams would share the same zoom level? So why not reserve one stream as a ‘full size at all times’ for the record function?

I see there’s too many of both the regular Cam & Cam Pan being adapted to outdoor use to ignore for much longer. There’s obviously a huge market demand for an outdoor version. And for this topic, I vote for a optical 24x lens. But the only sensible application would also be weatherproofed for outdoor use out of the box. I bet it could fit well at a much higher price point. Say $50~80?

Outdoor pan tilt zoom camera

Q:

I have several of WYZE cams around the house but use others outside.
When will you have a weather proof Cam for outside use? I have a Pan Cam out under our porchroof and it seems to work well so far - made it through the Colorado winter, but have other areas that aren’t as protected.

The outdoor camera is supposed to be the next product released. It’s in user beta testing now and should be soon (months?). The camera will be built for outdoors and also has a built in rechargeable battery but will also run while plugged into the charging USB cable. That’s about all anyone that isn’t a Wyze employee or a beta tester knows right now.

PTZ outdoor cameras in the lower price range are pretty much non existent and there is a reason for that.
I’m not saying that wyze cannot come up with something , but it would be very difficult to bring it in with a price people are accustomed to from wyze

I like the new wyze-cam (battery-outdoor) that will be coming out soon, but I would like to have an outdoor version of the wyze-cam-pan.

I like the idea of a Pan/Tilt/Zoom Outdoor Camera! Not sure how Wyze would go about that though…

The new outdoor camera does not have the ability to scan like the Pan Cam. So disappointed in this. I would like the ability to move the camera remotely to view a larger area.
