Bird Feeder Stopped Recording Events

I need help with my Grandma’s bird feeder cam. I have other Wyze cams myself and cannot figure out what the issue is. It randomly stopped recording events. We live in different states, but I used FaceTime to control her app and phone settings remotely. I couldn’t find anything that would turn off her notifications. We deleted the app and re-downloaded it, I clicked the restart device option, and there’s no SD card*. It was taking pictures when a bird arrived and alerted us via app notification, up until last Friday at 5 pm EST. She still receives notifications of events from one of my cams I have shared with her.

*Is there a spot for an SD card on the bird feeder?

What type of camera is in the bird feeder?

Wyze Battery Cam Pro

I don’t have one of those but from what I know, you can install an SD card in those cameras and set it to record events. In all honesty I’m having hard time understanding what is the issue you are having?

Is it that she stopped receiving notifications, to many notifications or the cam is not recording events?

Please be more specific.

Sorry, I thought my title was clear. The Bird Feeder Stopped Recording Events. I wasn’t sure where the SD card slot was located, as I live in another state, but I found a video that showed me it’s located in the battery compartment. I’ll ask my grandma to give that a try.

I want a solution that doesn’t involve the SD card, though. Hopefully, Wyze sees this.

I don’t think you understand the concept behind the bird feeder, it can accept multiple camera models. The bird feeder alone is not a camera, it is a camera holder. Good luck to you and your grandmother!

That’s not possible without subscription.

The Wyze Battery Cam Pro stopped recording events. How did it record anything for 6 weeks without an SD card or a subscription with no issues, considering you’re saying a subscription is necessary?

Is there another concept I’m not understanding?

Try a Reset again, but first remove the SD card. After the Reset is done, reinsert the SD card.

I recently did a reset of my OG camera and the instructions say to remove the SD before doing the reset.
Also, try a reFormat of the SD card.

Thanks for the suggestion, It does not have an SD card inserted and never has.

If it doesn’t have an SD card and no subscription, where were the recordings being stored. In thin air? The camera doesn’t have internal storage.

Why are you being rude? No, not in thin air. I suppose you’re unaware that events are automatically deleted after 14 days if you don’t have a subscription or an SD card.

I’m sorry if I came off rude, not my intention. I am aware that events get deleted after 14 days, but only if you have a subscription. If you don’t have a subscription there are no recordings period, only thumbnail picture of the event. Also, if you don’t have an SD card there are no evens either. Instead of painting me rude, please give us a logical explanation as to how were you able to view any events?

EDIT: Any chance you had the free trial of Cam Plus and now that it expired you have no recordings any longer? Here is screen shot of subscription tiers and I have circled what you get with no subscription.

It’s been “recording events” by taking a photo not recording video. Sorry for the confusion.

So you never had recordings, just a snapshot of the event and you never were able to go back and watch said event, right?

To circle back to your original request, the only way to view events without SD card is with subscription. Having said that, SD card would be cheaper alternative, you pay once for the card and you can go back and watch any past events.

Hope this helps.

Never had videos, only snapshots but for the last 6 weeks we’ve been able to review those snapshots. Pic is of last snapshot we received from Friday June 6th at 2:30.

I’m a bit confused with the above. How were you reviewing those snapshots?

What was happening when you clicked on those snapshots before, and what is happening now?

Okay, so the issue is that thumbnails on the Events tab haven’t appeared since 6 June 2025? That’s my takeaway from this, and I wonder if it’s possible that the most recent firmware update for Battery Cam Pro—which the announcement post from 28 May 2025 says “will be a gradual rollout over the next few weeks”—hit your grandma’s camera around that time and changed a setting. What might be helpful is if you could share the camera’s firmware version (so we can be aware if it’s current) and some other information from Settings.

I don’t have a Battery Cam Pro, but on Cam v4 I can navigate to  Settings ➜ Event Recording to see that Motion is toggled ON , and then on the Customize Detections screen I believe that Other Motion is always checked in the TAG column, but I’d want to make sure that it’s checked so that these get tagged for the Events timeline. I’d also wonder about the Detection Settings screen and what the sensitivity selections might be there (if Battery Cam Pro has something like this).

Near the bottom of the main Settings screen, there’s probably a Reset Services line with a Reset button. Sometimes tapping that button seems to fix funky issues even for cameras that aren’t attached to subscriptions.

I’m making some guesses about Battery Cam Pro’s UI options, but those are the kinds of things I’d be looking at.

I think what you’ve described about the “snapshots” (Wyze calls them “Thumbnails”) makes sense, especially with the way the images on the Events tab screenshot that you shared all have the little still image icon in the lower-left corner. That’s cool that the system is smart enough to save actual bird captures in the thumbnails for you and your grandma even without a subscription or microSD card!

Welcome to the Forum, @aeoaudreyosburn!

Hey @Crease, thanks for the welcome and for reviewing my question and replies. Your takeaway is correct; you understand the issue! I will call my Grandma later today or tomorrow to verify her settings.

It’s great that the thumbnails feature the birds! I discovered she didn’t know she had access to the live feed and was only reviewing the thumbnails.

You’re welcome! I’m not an iOS user, so I was unaware until I read in one of your earlier posts that FaceTime allows remote control of another device. That’s pretty cool that you don’t need a third-party tool for that. If you can grab some more screenhots, like showing the settings screens I asked about, then that might be helpful, too.
