I have 2 of these Battery Cams and they Fog up every night making them useless. I bought them because I’ve had people walk through my property at night.
Not sure what to do. Anyone else experience this?
I have the Cam v4 and floodlight outside with no issues of fog. Just these 2 Battery Cams
I have a bcp outside under a roof over-hang for over a year and another in a shed, neither with protective coverings. No issues experienced as you have described.
Fog can mean a lot of things. Is there literal fog/condensation on or in the lens? Is it just a blurry view? Could it be the IR lights reflecting off something? Need more details or ideally a picture of what you’re talking about.
Battery powered cams are horrible in the winter/cool damp weather because the do not generated any heat like the plug in cams. All four of my battery powered WCO get fogging when it is cold and damp.
They must generate some sort of heat, obviously not as much with their power saving features.
Only takes a degree or two above ambient to keep condensation out, but I guess it isn’t enough. The question is, is it on the outside of the lens or somewhere inside? If inside, seems like a pretty big design flaw.
I have a tiny heater in my safe that automatically maintains it 3 degrees above the temperature outside the safe, that’s enough to keep the humidity level in there extremely low without sucking too much power.
My battery cam pro was fogging up a lot on outside of lens as well. I add a visor over the lens with duct tape or clear tape on the top of the cam unit sticking out about 1”. No more fog so far.
I have added a similar tape visor to the rest of my cams as it acts as a rain visor (cuts down on drip events as well - make sure tape is peaked/angled so rain goes to the sides. Seems to work reasonably well on all my Outside cams.
