Trying to find a quick way to check the battery level on the BCP. Seems like the only option is to directly live stream. Why can’t the BCP show its battery percentage under devices list in the phone app?
Your screenshot shows a %. I’m confused.
Following is what I see on android Wyze app ver b696. Top 3 are BCP’s:
I can’t seem to find any relevant setting options. Wonder if it’s because I haven’t hooked it up with solar yet. Thanks for sharing the screenshot. Glad to know at least it could be shown.
Now I’m really confused. Are you asking about the solar charging or the battery percentage. Your screenshot showed the battery percentage.
If it’s solar charging there is no special info. The camera doesn’t know if it’s on solar or hardwired. If hardwired then you will see a lightning bolt through the battery icon almost 100% of the time. At times it will show not charging if the battery management system has shutdown the interface to rest. If your on solar the lightning bolt will appear when the solar panel is in direct sunlight. Note. The unit may be charging even though the lightning bolt has not appeared.
The battery percentage only shows on my the old wyze outdoor cam V2. Its currently up and running on solar. I just got the BCP and just finished charging this morning. I can only see the BCP charging indicator and battery percentage when livestreaming on the upper left corner. But that’s the only way I could check battery info. I would like to be able to check the battery level under the devices list in the phone app.
I currently still can’t see the BCP’s battery percentage under the devices list. If that info isn’t triggered by special hardware then I’m really lost. Would battery saving mode hide that info? I’ll see if I can finish installing the BCP with solar later today or tomorrow. Hopefully it’s not a bug.
There might be a gotcha in there. I’ve noticed that if the % is less than 100% it shows up in the device list all of the time as seen in my screen shot. If it is 100% it may or may not show 100% in the device list. (a bit looney. Not sure why. Been that way forever)
Well I can say this theory is wrong. I’ve haven’t been able to check the battery % when charging from 60% to the full charge.
Let’s compare notes.

There have been no changes to the battery display in recent memory. Maybe months if not over a year.
Your turn.
Sorry. I’m on beta. Even so your version was released in May of this year. I can’t remember if the % in the device list was there or not. I’m opposite of you. I only look at the icon in the live view.
When you get the BCP installed you might want to try the beta software. I’m not sure if you have to join beta or if the firmware is separate. If your not familiar it’s at Account > About > Beta Program.
No worries. I appreciate you helping out. I’d rather not not use special beta software on this camera. This camera is for my grandparents. Troubleshooting remotely is really frustrating.
It’s working now. Not sure if I did anything to prompt it. Left it inside the garage all day and was just about to show my grandpa the new features. Then I noticed BCP is displaying the battery % just like the WCO.
Below is when it wasn’t working
I never paid attention to the battery level being available in this view, an noticed two of my BCPros were not showing any battery info, one was, and I don’t know why the other is offline, I’ll investigate later.
I then went into live view for those two camera’s on my android phone (Galaxy Note 8) and watched my iPhone update that view to show those two camera’s battery level:
Would prefer to see the Battery Level here without having to initiate a Live View to get it to appear like that.
No idea why our BCP wasn’t showing battery % on the device list. It just somehow appeared later. I just hope the BCP won’t run into the same issues the WCO V2 had. The WCO may seem to be online running sufficient battery levels on the device list. But in reality it’s offline and also draining battery at an alarming rate. Being offline for half a day would deplete the battery completely.
We’ve only been running the BCP for a few days. The BCP battery % on the device list have been accurate, even before livestream directly. My grandpa is sure thrilled he could use the browser to livestream the solar BCP. Couldn’t do that with the WCO. Feel like I might need to get more BCPs…
