App crashes after viewing about 10 events

Can you provide more information, such as:

  • App version
  • Type of device you are viewing the events on
  • How you are scrolling through the events? Are opening an event, then going back to the event list and then opening another event? Or are you opening an event and swiping to go through the eventS
  • Do you have any filters selected?

I.am.asking as I don’t seem to have this issue and use Android as well.

Im going to events with the person filter on then swiping the events on Samsung A42 5G android. It crashes every single time i get to about the 10th event. App version is 3.4.0 (640).

@phmurphy @spamoni,

I can confirm this.

On my first test I only had 20 events since start of day. No problems.

To get more samples I selected yesterday’s date. The app crashed around the 25th swipe. It is repeatable (3 times).

When it crashes the screen goes blank for a second or so then the favorites (home) screen appears. All seems normal after that.

I’m also on PR 640 and I have seen this behavior maybe 3 times since updating to 640. The crash seemed random to me and had not risen to the level of “on my radar”.

It’s on my radar now but since I typically don’t do this many swipes it is not critical (yet).

BTW, just for reference I updated to Android 15 two days ago.

Thanks @ronl4625 @phmurphy

I was not experiencing any issues until I got above 30. However, my app did not crash. The Event Stream showed in black from a certain point down. When I swiped down to go to a previous event, which played, it was also black. Then it started to flicker between black and the event.

I created a Log: 1819407 and reported to Wyze as well.

It would be beneficial if you all were to create logs yourself and reach out to Wyze for a Ticket Number.

I recorded a video of what I am seeing from another phone :slight_smile (ignore sound from TV):

Thanks

Will do this weekend.

That’s a pretty common ongoing issue for me too.

This is starting to look like a memory leaks issue. It’s when a code within the app (or a library it uses) forgets to release a portion of the RAM it has previously used but is no longer needed. The telltale indicator is that the bigger your memory, the longer it takes before it causes problems.

The more expensive phones have a lot of RAM. I was surprised to find that my Samsung has 12gigs of RAM. Even my old windows boxes had less RAM. And it takes more repetitions before the problem appears.

Edit - the workaround is to force close the app. That releases the unused memory.

I have same problems and have sent a video of them happening using another phone to capture it. Im using android UI7… was happening way before android update and its not cache issues and i even uninstalled and reinstalled and its repeatable. When event view was misbehaving I tried swiping right and then back and sometimes its ok for some reviews but eventually it locks up and is flashing and impacts other app views and only closing Wyze app and reopening going to events and scrolling up mulriple times to get back to event before problem and then it allows playbacks until it happens again. I’ve encountered the flashing of the even playback and also just blackout of the playback window. Varies but definitely a bug somewhere in the app.

I got tired of swiping, no problem on mine, I have Samsung and oneui7, s24 ultra with 12 gb of RAM.

I also have Ram Plus set at 8gb. I run a lot of background apps.

Less memory I could see the issues though. You can see it grow RAM usage as I swipe.

Actually swiping through isn’t something I do, until I saw these posts and tested it. I usually hit the SD shaped icon at the top of the events page and let it blink thru the events. Occasionally.

Definitely a problem there.
