Allow users to disable Lock Bolt v2's 5-minute unlocked alarm

Lock bolt 2 - unwanted 5 minute unlock notification

Is anybody else getting notifications about your lock bolt version 2 being unlocked even when you have all notifications turned off for it? I’ve double-checked every setting in the notifications for being locked and unlocked are all off but I still keep getting notifications if I leave the door unlocked for more than 5 minutes. It’s very annoying. Is this a bug or something that needs to be updated or am I missing something?

I just tested and disabled two different things:

  • Lock Bolt v2’s  Settings ➜ Notifications ➜ Device Notifications
  • Lock Bolt v2’s  Settings ➜ Volume ➜ Alarm ➜ Volume

The latter is what annoys me more, because I don’t need to hear the lock beeping at me whenever someone unlocked it 5 minutes ago, so I thought maybe that’s what you meant. That’s why I tested both.

Regardless, I still received notifications from the app at the 5-minute mark after unlocking Lock Bolt v2, so I think that’s a bug. (Turning off Alarm Volume did disable the 5-minute beep, but that seems to be another one of those all-or-nothing settings, so I turned it back on because I want to be aware of other potential alarms.)

I also think this is another reason they should properly implement Android notification channels within the app, because that could be one way to allow users more flexibility with notification management, though I don’t know what the iOS equivalent, if any, would be. Additionally, I imagine they could give the users more options within the app about what notifications to receive, much like they do with Smart Detections on Cams. I’m in favor of more flexibility versus these all-or-nothing settings.

I’ll log this and open a ticket. I suggest you do the same to help get this on their radar for a possible fix.

2026-01-05T19:54:33Z Edit: The response I received after opening a ticket included this from the automated “Wyze-E” agent:

Please note that while you can turn off most notifications in the lock’s settings by toggling off “Device Notifications,” there are certain critical warning notifications that cannot be disabled. These include notifications for lock jammed, failed to lock, failed to unlock, calibration warning, device offline, battery low warning, and failed entry lockout.

I imagine—based in part on the :warning: icon seen in the Events log for Lock Bolt v2 (e.g., “:warning: Unlocked for 5 minutes”)—that Wyze considers the 5-minute unlock notification to be a “critical warning notification”, and that’s probably why it can’t be turned off. I can certainly see why some people might not consider that to be “critical” in the same way as a lock jam, low battery, failed entry lockout, etc., though. I think the developers should reconsider what qualifies as “critical”.

Wyze-E also included this suggestion:

If you are receiving notifications outside of these critical alerts, please double-check the notification settings in both the Wyze Lock Bolt v2 device settings and the Wyze app to ensure all non-critical notifications are turned off.

I don’t see any distinction in Lock Bolt v2’s UI between “critical” and “non-critical” notifications, so this advice doesn’t make any sense at all and serves only to frustrate the user with a fruitless search for options that don’t exist.

Incidentally, while looking at this issue, I’m also seeing that  Account ➜ Notifications ➜ Push Notifications ➜ Devices shows unchecked boxes for Lock Bolt v2 and Palm Lock even though I have notifications enabled within their individual UI modules, and I’ve been receiving notifications for those locks even when those boxes are unchecked. Something definitely seems wrong with this behavior.

Wow! Thank you for such a thorough look over on this! I’m glad to get some confirmation that it’s not just me and there’s definitely something wrong with this thing. I appreciate all your efforts and agree with everything. Seems like another quick to ship product without thorough testing/vetting by Wyze.

Just came here to find info about this. Man this lock is a dud.

Ive had this thing installed for less than 12 hours and my irritation level with it is at 9/10.

I’ve disabled notifications and alarm volume for the the stupid 5 minute notification. I really hope they fix this stuff.

Installed the lock in a few mins. Setup is easy but I did notice right away the alarm after 5 mins of leaving it unlocked. Please fix this asap as it’s quite annoying and I had to disable all alarms for now.

Lock Bolt V2 - option to turn off 5 min unlocked alert

The Lock Bolt v2 should have the option to disable the 5 minute unlocked warning. This seems to be categorized as a critical alert that is unable to be disabled, even when push notifications for the entire Wyze app are turned off and all alerts on the lock are turned off.

Just hopping on here as well to voice my irritation with the 5 minute alert. Allow the consumer to decide what is critical to them. Unnecessary, un-blockable notifications will absolutely have me considering returning this and getting a different smart lock.

OMG the 5 minute beeps when I leave my door unlocked is driving me insane, and confusing everyone else. Please enable the ability to disable this ASAP!

Welcome to the Forum, @daro2!

I don’t have any ability to change this feature, but because so many other users have been requesting this—and because I haven’t seen any official response from Wyze in the announcement topic since shortly after the product launched—I’ve collected these requests into a new Wishlist topic.

Thank you for sharing your opinion about this, and please remember to click the Vote button above the initial post!
