Allow additional cam models to be added to the HMS Security Cameras list

Can we please get an ETA on when we will be able to add the Wyze V4 cameras to the Home Monitoring: Security Cameras section?

Receiving critical alerts when the home monitoring system is armed is… CRITICAL. It’s the difference between having a few minutes of a heads up that someone is potentially breaking in versus them already having an entryway open. 3/4 of my cameras are V4s - so I don’t really feel any ā€œprotectionā€ from them without the Security Cameras feature.

We’re 190+ days into the V4 lifecycle waiting for a feature that should have been available at release. I love Wyze but this is frustrating since we’re paying for the Home Monitoring + equipment and we’re missing critical features.

At minimum, an ETA on this feature is needed. If its going to be a long time, I might just switch back to the v3s.

I agree. This is taking way too long. I’m considering cancelling everything and going back to a proper monitoring service. There’s literally NO excuse for the V4 cameras still not being available for home monitoring. This creates a huge security hole for everyone using them to monitor the outside of their homes and businesses.

Yes. I agree. It is frustrating. We should get an ETA when V4 is supported on HMS, so that we can decide on our next steps.

Given the V4 is the new flagship Wyze camera, replacing its predecessor, the V3, it’s mind blowing the V4 was not included in Home Monitoring prior to launch. For it to still not be available as a security cam in HMS is beyond ridiculous. I would not have bought 6 of these to replace my current V3s had I known this. I guess I could have inquired prior to purchasing, but nothing in the product info stated it was not compatible and quite frankly I shouldn’t have to do that with something like a V4. To have your most popular line of cameras not be compatible with HMS is ludicrous.

PLEASE get the v4 cam added to HMS so that we can use the cameras that we purchased to monitor our homes!

Just noticed this wasn’t an option this morning. Sad to see it’s been brought up so long ago and not even an ETA yet. This is disappointing.

Yea, just installed the doorbell duo and went to check, but it made me realize I never went back and checked if the spotlight pro, installed 6/2023, still wasn’t an option. I still left my original v3’s installed, but it’s rather absurd a year and a half later I have to keep multiple cameras for the same spot, and completely agree this should have been worked out prior to ever releasing the products. From a programming perspective, I can’t even imagine it being that difficult to add new hardware models to this option, I mean it’s basically a group with a threat notification trigger that toggles to active when the alarm is on, not even sure why monitoring is required for that feature.

This is beyond ridiculous that v4 cams are STILL not available under home monitoring. IT’S A CAMERA. How hard is it to add? If your dev team still can’t get it added, maybe you need to fire them and hire someone more competent at this point. There is no excuse for this. NONE! Get. It. Done! Your customers DEMAND it!

Please add support for Cam v4 in Home Monitoring. It is honestly shameful that Wyze would roll out the new cam for 9 whole months now and still not allow it to be added to the Home Monitoring cams for Home Monitoring integration features.

@Seapup

Disappointing, but I resigned myself to buy 3 V3 Pros (to replace my V4s) since I concluded the product/merchandising strategy will not add V4s to the Home Monitoring since they are not marketed as Security Cams. Maximizes product sales - particularly if you don’t pay attention to feature details. V3 Pros are 50% off and willing to invest in more secure home.

If at some point they change this product/merchandising strategy, I guess I’ll already have the V4s. :man_shrugging:t3:

Received and installed 3 V3 Pros to replace my V4s. Video surveillance is working again. 6 months and $75 later (50% off).

Has Wyze ever actually commented on this one or the other in regards to the v4 being added to HMS? It would be really nice to know at some point because as the other poster here has said, if they are never going to add them then I’d like to start buying up some v3 pros instead. Like… I want to spend more money on your products, but I can’t/won’t right now because I don’t know what to buy. Would be cool if the company would provide some guidance.

I hate to comment twice, but I have a feeling I’ve figured out why this feature still hasn’t been implemented, and why it’s never been addressed by a Wyze employee here.

I noticed today that the new $20 Cam Plus Pro plan says an ā€œEmergency Dispatchā€ feature is coming soon. The $10 HMS service runs through Noonlight, of which Wyze has to give them a cut or some sort of payment. Noonlight obviously doesn’t provide the service for free. The other thing I’ve noticed is that the HMS isn’t compatible with Cam Pro.

So, what would potentially drive more customers to sign up for that Pro plan that Wyze keeps 100% of the profits from, who may otherwise be happy with their service? Why, the ability to add emergency response to the v4s we’ve all been spending money on! Speaking for myself, if I could add my v4s to my HMS plan, I wouldn’t even look twice at the Pro plan. If adding emergency response to my v4s is going to be gatekept behind the Pro paywall, I would have to at least consider it, right?

I’d love to be wrong here. Maybe this means Wyze is planning to drop Noonlight (or possibly vice versa) and are going to be adding an in-house option through Cam Pro? IDK but once again, a little bit of clarity would go a long way from the team here.

I guess v4 is off their list. I am this close to changing to another cam product because it is ridiculous to offer a new camera and it not be compatible with the cam monitoring you offer and CHARGE extra for.

If there is no update in the next two months I guess Tapo it is for me. That will be Cam Unlimited Pro and Security Monitoring $250 subscriptions gone from Wyze. I am sure many others feel the same way.

Outside of it just not functioning as your expect under monitoring, if you have cams plus pro, you can setup identical features for the individual cameras that ā€œsecurity camerasā€ does under monitoring. The cameras aren’t actually monitored by any 3rd party in an emergency, it’s just a push alert with rules. Am I missing something?

I do find it poor that Wyze keeps introducing new hardware incompatible with their other service offerings, and continues to be incompatible years later, but for me (also having both monitoring and cams plus unlimited) this feature really doesn’t matter since it’s literally just a group and customized push notifications.

The cameras do not trigger an emergency response in either case. Noonlight has nothing to do with the cameras you set in the app, they can’t see them, and emergency services are never triggered by them. The cameras only send push notifications via the app to your phone and are separate so you can assign them notification that bypass DND being set on your phone. This can be done on each camera individually.

I don’t think this is accurate. While Noonlight can’t actively see your live feeds or whatever, the cameras you add to the HMS cab be used to set triggers/alarms and send those notifications to Noonlight, according to the Google. So if, for example, I wanted to setup cameras inside and have an alert/alarm triggered if it detects a person while I’m not home. that’s not an option with the v4s. Wyze’s website also suggest that Noonlight does get recordings of events that triggered the alarm if it was from one of your cameras.

So yea, I don’t know if that’s all 100% accurate, but if it is, that makes a very big difference and isn’t just a custom notification group as you’re suggesting.

If you read the FAQ it implies it’s setup for homeowner notification and allows the homeowner to decide what to do, https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/17612481283227-What-is-Security-Camera-in-Wyze-Home-Monitoring

I get so many alerts on my phone, I found this fairly useless, so I set a person notification tied to Alexa after 10pm from specific cameras, so specific speakers say, for example, ā€œA person was detected at the backdoor, you should check the camera to verify.ā€

Additionally, the general home monitoring FAQ site states ā€œVideos and/or the live streams from your Security Cameras are not shared with any Wyze employees or third parties (including Noonlight and the monitoring center).ā€
