Wyze cameras placed near windows, under deep porch overhangs, or facing bright skies suffer from severe “whiteout” or silhouette effects. Because the current firmware relies on generic, full-frame matrix metering, a blindingly bright background forces the camera to aggressively dim the entire image. As a result, the foreground becomes a dark silhouette, rendering facial recognition and security footage useless precisely when a person approaches.

- How it works: Leverage the existing UI grid structure currently used for Detection Zones. Allow users to toggle a secondary “Metering Zone” layer where they can draw a box over the specific area they want the camera to expose for (e.g., a dark entryway floor, ignoring the bright street above it).
- The benefit: Gives users immediate, granular control over difficult architectural lighting setups without needing manual exposure tools.
- 3. Incremental Exposure Compensation Slider (
+/-EV)- How it works: Introduce a simple relative slider in the advanced camera settings. Instead of locking the camera into a rigid manual mode, this slider would instruct the auto-exposure algorithm to target a permanent, incremental baseline boost (e.g., +0.5 EV or +1.0 EV) for inherently dark environments.
