Aging refrigerator, powering through smart plug

Hello, I have my kitchen refrigerator plugged into a smart plug, with intent to notify me if it stops working before I replace it.

The issue I have, their are no current convenient automations for me to set this up.

My current automation is setup as follows:

“IF” Fridge has been off for 3:00hrs

“DO” Turn on Utility room cam siren

I would like to have the action option to push a custom notification, such as "Your refrigerator hasn’t turned on in the past 3hrs"or “Check refrigerator, potentially broke down”.

I think you have a misunderstanding of “Fridge has been off for 3:00 hrs” means. It sounds like you think that means that the smart plug has not detected current draw for 3 hours. That’s not what it means. It means that the smart plug has been turned off for 3 hours (which of course you would not do).

Better solution would be a temperature monitor inside the fridge and/or freezer.

As for the custom notifications, as far as I know, there is no way to do that.

I have a 20 year old Whirlpool refrigerator. I don’t use smart plugs, but have a thermometer in the freezer and frig compartments in case I lose power or the frig dies. I will always know if the food is safe to eat.
