I have a plug that runs on a schedule when I’m home. When on vacation, I would like to not have it turn on. I can manually disable the schedule, but it would be helpful if vacation mode could have an action to disable a schedule.
Hi waylonis, welcome back! That’s a great idea to use vacation mode to disable other automations.
However, in your case, I think using a location-based automation to control your plug might be a more suitable solution. That way, when you’re away from home (whether on vacation or just out for the day), the schedule won’t trigger since your phone isn’t at your home location. This would give you the automatic behavior you’re looking for without needing to manually enable/disable schedules.
Have you tried setting up location-based automations before? Happy to help walk you through it if needed!
Hey @WyzeHaoran, I have locations based automation for my cottage cameras. It is set to turn notifications off when I get there and turn them off when I leave. It works some times, and some times it doesn’t. Every time I leave I have to check the history and make sure it has triggered, and if it hasn’t, I have to deploy a shortcut. The automation doesn’t work all the time.
Hi @habib , thanks for sharing this feedback. Location-based automations can be tricky, and I’d like to help troubleshoot why it’s not triggering consistently.
For the times it hasn’t triggered, can you check the automation history to see if:
-
It shows an error message, or
-
It doesn’t appear in the history at all?
Also, please verify these settings on your phone:
-
Wyze app location permission is set to “Always” (not “While Using the App”)
-
Precise Location is enabled for the Wyze app
Additionally, make sure your cameras have a stable internet connection, as connectivity issues can sometimes prevent automations from executing properly.
Let me know what you find, and we can dig deeper from there!
It doesn’t appear in the history at all.
Location permissions are set to “Always” and Precise Location is enabled for the app.
That could be the reason as that location is on Wireless/Cell broadband and signal can fluctuate.
I’ll dig into it next time I am up there.
Thanks for taking the time to get back to me.
