I’ve got several cameras in my house on my Wi-Fi network. I can see/access them with the app by logging in using wb@example.com.
I also have some spare cameras I’m not currently using. I have the SSID and password of my friend’s Wi-Fi. Can I (how?) configure one of these cameras to use my friend’s SSID/password and then be able to access this camera (alongside my other already configured cameras) within the app logging in using wb@example.com?
I don’t want to create a new account just for this SSID and then having to logout/login every time I want to access a camera in a different network.
Yes, during setup each cam asks what wifi you want to use, they do not have to be on the same one. You can have cams on the other side of the country on totally different wifi on the same account.
As @K6CCC mentioned the wifi SSID and password are embedded in that QR code. Some cams use Bluetooth to transfer that data from the app, some use the QR code.
You can even get the person’s SSID and password, set up a temporary guest network at your house with that info, get the cam all set up, ship it to them, and it will come online when they plug it in (assuming their wifi uses the same authentication protocol as yours etc). This isn’t a 100% sure fire method but it should typically work.
