The rural area I grew up they were much less used to humans and pets and one of our long haired Maine Coon cats took a hit, what a nightmare that was.
Around where I am now they’re far more used to people and even pets and will just run off, sometimes fire off a light “warning shot”. But occasionally one gets cornered and someone’s dog will take a direct hit. Man that stuff is nasty when concentrated, like burning tires or something.
That’s the thing, up close it smells nothing like skunk. Kinda like that time when I was a kid and decided to try a spoonful of vanilla extract because hey, it smells like vanilla right? That was a bad idea.
I was oldest of four. I used to beg my mom to give me a taste of vanilla extract. She told me I would not like it. How could something that smells so very good not be equally tasty? Finally she consent. got out the tablespoon, not the teaspoon. Wow. But my brother was standing there. And I had to share the wonderful taste with him. So, I put on a face like it was butterscotch. He begged too. And I begged for him. Then, he and I begged for our sisters”.
Shared pain is always better than being the lone sufferer.
My mom of course always said no and told me it tastes bad, from what I recall I snuck it when nobody was home. Can’t recall if she ever found out or not, but if she did I’m sure I got an “I told you so”.
It has been well over a month since I sent my inquiry to ‘privacy@wyze.com’ via email. Granted, there was a lot there. With that said, WYZE has yet to address even a single point within the inquiry. Not even a courtesy reply stating we are looking into things. Nothing from them in my SPAM or JUNK folders either, as I have checked multiple times. (I use Microsoft’s O365 for email.)
A couple of days ago I forwarded the original email to them yet again requesting a reply. Something tells me they have no intention to address it at all and have high hopes that I will simply go away. I’ve been a WYZE customer since 2018 and have come to learn how they operate. This is simply par for the WYZE course. I challenge their security/privacy team to prove me wrong.
Ask @WyzeJasonJ, he knows I do not let things go just because time goes by. I am still waiting for WYZE to live up to their original release notes for the old V2 cams. They stated WPA3 support was added years back. Instead of actually living up to their release notes and adding WPA3 support, WYZE simply changed the release notes WITHOUT referencing the fact that they did so within the release note. Nor have they ever admitted to making a mistake. This is just another great example of how WYZE operates and stopped replying in hopes I would go away.
Bottom line, WYZE does not like to be held to account for things they have said or done.
Seriously if you are up to no good then say so and don’t hand me nothing connected to the web…. I have fellow veterans and family members that serve honorably as LE and even though they wouldn’t want to help someone like you that “ won’t help police at all ever!” even so they would help you in an emergency. I get it there are sins that are A holes and shouldn’t even be wearing a badge but to lump them all in? Naw that’s ignorance at its best
I can’t figure who that comment above was directed at, but I am not bashful to step to the plate.
Stopped by the police these days? If they don’t have something on you, they are working to have something on you. They will violate your rights if you don’t know how to defend yourself. SCOTUS is blessing case law that allows bad policing and allowing approved violations of our most sacred place - our home. SCOTUS is allowing police to enter your home without a warrant under the disguise of “wellness checks” called by even anonymous “neighbors”.
Well, if the bad ones, the A holes wore a black badge and we could ‘read the program to recognize the players’ it might mean something to be good police. But over the past 20 years they have taught us well, that they are not on our side. We have the right to paint them all as corrupt, dirty, tyrants until they prove to us they are not. Though the police behave as if this is 1940’s Germany, the citizens know better. Relative to the majority there may be a few that could be honorable, but are surrounded by the traitors to their oath and the constitution. And when an honorable public servant stands by, participates, lifts not a finger to stop the unlawful, inhumane treatment and abuse of authority on citizens that pay to be protected, those so-called honorable LE are no longer honorable have lost the support. For too long the citizens trusted, and more and more cameras are recording and the results are being exposed. The video of abuse does not lie. More and more of the tens of thousands of bad ones are being fired or prosecuted. Even gypsy cops are finding it hard to run to another department and hide until exposed there too. The thing we should all be worried about is; what going to happen with the last citizen to ‘stand for the mistreatment” has had enough. I am sorry to say, I hope it does not, but I believe there will be a war between citizens and blue.
You are very very lucky and it speaks praise to your personality, your knowledge and your tolerance. Not them.
Yours and my experiences with law enforcement are not a blip on the radar of the tens of thousands of citizens that have been abused, lost their jobs and lives ruined by aggressive unlawful police action.
Here’s just one simple fact for you. law enforcement in Tennessee have arrested more than 2500 people for DUI that later blood test expose had no alcohol, drugs or any chemicals in their system. Hundreds losing the jobs changing or ruining the lives and the head of the agencies take no responsibility for their ‘errors”. Look it up. I guess every other action with law enforcement is without sin and is perfect. Doubt me? Go to YouTube and do some searches. You will find body worn camera video of the bad policing posted for the world.
Yeah and what happened in Tennessee ? A new state law (requiring annual TBI reports on these cases) was passed following investigative reports. People sued and have won settlements. So there were consequences and in any line of work you going to have bad apples!! But you don’t lump the whole! I’ve had my good and bad experiences with cops, you can also find all the good stuff they do but nobody does that not the narrative.
I’m sorry you don’t understand. There’s more bad experiences now than ever before. Cops are at their worse in our history. Wait until it happens to someone you love. And yes, we can paint the lot as bad and let those that expose and report the worse to get them out of their ranks. Yes, we can lump them all together to protect ourselves. Did you know that police have murdered more than 1,000 people every year since 2013? Look it up. Right now, good ones are called rats and exiled or not supported when they need help. I’ll stop ranting how. If you don’t get it, you don’t and I anything I say, is not going to help you understand.
No sorry that you are [Mod Edit] plucking out of thin air made up statements about law [Mod Edit]. Yes there are incidents but doesn’t mean all and no you don’t lump them all together that right there says everything anyone needs to know [Mod Edit], or you into criminal activities and just hate cops. There is way more positive things that they do compared to a few bad apples.

Curious, why was this thread removed from the “Cameras” thread and moved to ‘Watercooler”? Did I miss a post explaining that this was done and why?
IMO, it seems as if WYZE is doing everything possible to bury this topic. This thread has to do with Cameras and should be placed back into the appropriate thread.
Some of the posts in this topic are on the borderline of violating the Community Guidelines. We allow a little more leniency in the Watercooler category.
