Wyze thermostat 3wire

I have a 3 wire battery powered thermostat in a newer home the white wire goes to the W the green wire goes to the G and the red wire to R the Wyze app says it will not work any help appreciated

interesting, I swear it only needed a minimum of 3 wires to be compatible, since it uses G & the adapter to power the tstat.

I suppose you could tell the app you also have Y & just not connect anything to Y, and see if it powers up & heat works.

When you use the C wire adapter the Y wire is the multipurpose wire which is ‘decoded’ by the adapter to become the Y and the G. 3 wires and the adapter could be done but would require firmware changes to use the 3rd wire (W for jimmyzz) as the multipurpose wire.

You could use the G wire as C, assuming your furnace controls G by itself. You would lose manual fan control though. To do this, simply connect the green wire to C on both ends and tell wyze you have W, C, and R wires.

Could I run a forth wire and use it as the C wire ?

Definitely, if you can run a new wire, that’s your best option
