Maybe because you are on Cam Lite and I don’t have the ability to switch until May 2025,
I’m mostly just bearing witness at this point. ‘Troubleshooting’ these systems has become kind of a fool’s errand.
And I have only two cam models (v2 and v3.) Pity the fool with five or six.
Oof. I guess getting the Cam OG Telephoto (in addition to the Cam OG I already had) put me into the “five” class.
Yeah, it’s getting to be a bit much, and now I have a microSD card issue in a Cam Pan v3 that I need to troubleshoot, so my contribution here is doing nothing to dissuade @bryonhu.
When everything works it’s real nice. App 3.x is a big leap and fun to use. It’s just so fragile.
Once in a while some cameras fail to load unless I exit the app and relaunch.
On an old Samsung Note 8 phone that I use as a test bench for new Wyze app releases, it sometimes gets stuck at the Wyze logo and won’t proceed to the home page. If that happens, the workaround is to turn off, then turn the display back on.
To be clear I meant the whole ecosystem is fragile – devices plus firmware plus app plus back end plus cloud plus plus plus that I don’t know about but feel the effects.
The problem I documented just above is not app-specific – I have 2.50.9 (512) running on Bluestacks Android emulator and it’s the same there.
Prevented by an event filter bug from running the latest 3.x, I’m left wondering five or six .x versions back If some of the other anomalies I’m experiencing have been solved in that latest version - that I can’t use.
For example, accessing the setting pages of a cam from a cam group on the Favorites page, the throughput as reported by the KB/s onscreen, which you want to be robust before entering settings, is often weak and erratic. If entering settings for the same cam from the Devices tab, it’s consistently robust and steady, so you should really enter from there.
I shouldn’t have to be thinking about this stuff right? I’m half regular person.
I’m gonna say that the Wyze Apple app provides a better experience overall than the Android app – maybe because developers know that, on the whole, Android users have more tolerance for shaky performance than do Apple users, what with Android’s open platform foundation consisting of skilled tinkerers. Many are more ok being de facto beta testers.
I expect stats exist to support and/or debunk this.
I haven’t experienced that at all. The app loads fine just random cameras fail to load in group view. Exiting the app fixes that.
I think your theory is flawed. It is a fact that Apple’s OSs are more stable in general.
Ok, here’s another thing to debunk.
If you enter cam Settings pages with an instable connection a whole nuther level of cognitive chaos awaits – because the state of the settings displayed can’t be trusted!
And the settings you seem to be saving won’t ‘take!’ (register)
Every customer should be advised of this upfront.
Otherwise you embark on a troubleshooting journey from a matrix of chaos!
Why don’t they uniformly advise customers of this? To avoid suggesting (the fact) that the whole system is unstable??
Hmm… A lot of the Mod Maven crew is ambiappsterous. I wonder if they’d agree.
Funny. I was wondering why I am so tolerant. I 3.x and see zero issues on my 8 non-pan, non-battery and non-outside cams.
The operative word here is “unstable”. As much as I hate Wyze’s business plan you can’t blame them for unstable connection. You know better than that.
Maybe, but their users are mosty unstable.
Just yanking your chain old man😀
I can’t judge anything that I am not familiar with, so let it be known thar I am not saying that Android is an inferior OS, all I’m saying is that both my iOS and Mac OS have been rock solid since the day I started using them. For the record I’ve been using Macs since 1987 and I will never use anything else for as long they’re stable and allow me to do what I want. The day that changes I’m open to other venues. Never been and I never will be a fanatic.
