I was at home wifi and was able to watch the scheduled recording videos on the app but I am away from home and the recorded videos on sd card are stuck at waiting and not showing . I can only watch the video in the album at same home wifi or what ?
Maybe your cell signal sucks? I have used both wifi and cell from different locations all the way to the East Coast of the U.S. without issue. The Album should look like this with a download arrow for each video.
Your screen shot shows the videos didn’t load all the way.
Well, I’d tend to totally disagree with you there.
I had very strong 5g data when I wasn’t able to access the scheduled recordings earlier when Iwas away form home. Anyway at home wifi now and I was able to view the scheduled recording videos at home wifi in the app but most of these clips are frozen (gets stuck)either after few secs from the start or frozen in the middle and not a continuous clip. I didn’t have frozen videos on camplus.
I think I should try the TP LINK 2K OUTDOOR battery cam with the sd card. Wyze has too many problems with zero fixes and somehow people still buy wyze cams.
Fair enough. I am a believer in the advanced settings of the camera but I’m just being a snob honestly.
Maybe they buy them because they work for them.
I’ve only used 32GB cards or 64GB cards formatted in FAT32 in the four old WCO v1 cams I own and don’t have your issue. They all have a good signal.
Wyze v2 outdoor cams here. Motion detection on the SD cards worked fine yesterday except that most of the “scheduled recordings” were frozen videos where the the video freezes in the middle of the clip for several seconds, be it car or person detection.
Today, I checked the scheduled recordings and it didn’t detect anything until from 11 30am. It should have detected my wife leaving for work at 7am and no mail drop off detection before 11:30. IT just has bunch of wind and tree blowing videos from 11:30am today. As of this posting, it is 1:11pm here.
Any fixes for the two issues above? Thanks
I thought you stopped using Cam Plus? You can’t get person/vehicle without it, everything will be tagged as motion. Do you get event thumbnail photos on the events page?
The battery powered cams use PIR and detect motion best when it is side to side, straight at or away from the cam doesn’t work well.
Video freezes ? Try this: Open the cam in the app, go to settings > Event recording > turn off Detects Motion, the camera will still record motion to the SD even when that is off (Mine is On) . I had the freeze issue once so I turned off Detects Motion so the camera would not be uploading the event to WYZE server at the same time it was writing to the SD it worked good
Yes. I stopped paying for camplus and tried microsd card. To access the scheduled recordings, I have to go to live view of the camera, hit more, album and scheduled recordings and there is no logo, thumbnail image under “scheduled recordings”. Motion detection is a hit or miss as I mentioned previously where it didn’t record us getting out coming in. All the motion detected videos under “scheduled recordings” are freezing with static noise like this
Or like this with loud static noise where motion freezes for few secs
No Idea. I’ll put a card back in one of my old WCO v1 cams today and set it for 1 day and see how it goes. I don’t use it much anymore because I have 10 other plug in powered cams.
It looks like DISABLING THE MOTION DETECTION help with the “scheduled recording video” freezing issue. Checked some videos and they are not longer freezing/stopping in the middle.
I put a 32GB card in on of my WCO today and set it for 1 day 5 hours, Motion only, no cooldown and duration of each video to 3 min. I also turned off detections motion, I have Cam Unlimited and I don’t want that cam to upload any videos while doing scheduled recording.
@wyz312 I forgot to hit “start now” after I put the card in my WCO.
I did it right last night, This is from the SD in a 4.5 year old WCO v1.
I have only skimmed all the replies, but overall it seems fairly negative on the Outdoor V2 Cam. My experience is the opposite. I think it the best and most reliable camera for monitoring my home (and other homes/commercial buildings I dealt with). It generally ONLY alerts for a person in the area I am concerned about. Though int he past year it’s started to trigger when outside lights turn off, and when the flashing lights on the garbage truck reflect off the house. Not sure what’s wrong there, that should NOT trigger the IR sensor.
That however, can vary and depends on where you setup the camera and what you need. The Outdoor V2 is compatible with CamPlus Light. So you get clips and Person detection for minimal cost (if an older customer). I have the SD Card in the base, but there still isn’t (to my knowledge) any easy way to ever check those, so its basically backup in case there is a real issue.
The battery life for me is great at 3-4 Months. But an office mate was very disappointed in his location as it was only 1-2 Weeks (too much movement and triggers). I am able to get the IR trigger area set over just the right location so it only wakes up with that movement, and then narrows it down with the video region. I have tried the camera in my backyard and it’s too far away and has moving branches/trees in the trigger area. So the battery only lasted two weeks. Similarly the newer Battery Cam had the same short 2 week life in the backyard. Also, annoyingly side-by-side with my Outdoor V2 in the front yard was only 2-4 weeks, NOT 3-4 months! The Outdoor V2 has only the lower 2/3’rds of the visual area as a IR trigger area. The Battery Cam has full screen IR and Radar. This was a terrible decision (in my use case) as the top portion of the camera view has trees in both locations and that makes the camera continually wake up turn on the camera and then ignore the motion as it’s not in the target area. Also, the battery life summary does not accurately reflect this leaving you to think the battery life is just terrible. Which in those cases it is.
Anyhow, I have the Outdoor V2 set to deliver me the alerts though the app, while a V3 Plus (on the house with full power) records the area from a different view 24/7, but I disable the alerts as they are unreliable.
Hope that helps.
Alan
I also have found the WOC v2 to be reliable for detecting a Person in the area I care about. I have them on the perimeter of my house because they alert much more reliably than any of my other Wyze cams for a person in the target area… I don’t know why!
These cams don’t work with the new AI Descriptive Alerts, in case a future buyer is reading. Also, there is no need for an SD card in these models, they don’t work like you’d expect with the SD cards (they don’t record detected motion to the SD like the plug-in cams do)
This may be repeat info, but you can skip if you already have your answers. The Microsoft card on the outdoor cameras works different than the other ones. You have to set the record period. You can set up to a month. But you HAVE to set the period and then go back every month and create a new setting as far as I’ve been able to do. This will not just overwrite and keep recording. I have 5 outdoor cams, three version 1 and 2 version 2. Already had a version 2 crap out just after a year. All my lenses are burnt and spotting and completely distorted even after tearing them down and trying to repair. After a year ALL these cameras started fogging up at night to the point they were unusable. So my point, to answer should you move on… yes… Wyze is a “cheap” poorly maintained product and it is disposable. Unless you can really control the environment in which you place them. I have 6 indoor cams that serve their purpose… sort of. I can NEVER rely on being able to connect to these in critical situations. They fail constantly. Horrible stability! I am moving to Eufy Cameras for my outdoor setups, and have started my own network after installing a buddies about 6 months ago and checking their reliability and quality. So far, it is FAR superior to Wyze! They are a bit more expensive, but still not really as expensive and as hard to install as a wired NVR system which I have done 3 of for restaurant and industrial locations. Those are by far the most reliable, but not without their own set of issues. I have yet to meet a system that is completely stable and needs no interaction after a bit of time. I am happy with my Eufy install so far. Had a hiccup after a couple days with a camera losing video connection, but I reconnected and we’ll see how that goes. Image quality is superb and night quality is amazing so far. I’m running the S330 and S230 models, buddy is running S330 Pro and those are even better. No issue with solar power, but I am in SoCal so sunlight is not a concern. Hope this is informative. Have a great day. Oh, and I’ve been using Wyze products for 6+years and I have ALWAYS had catostrophic errors with ALL of their products, it was just par for the price point, so I did what I could to get it replaced or fixed myself.
