Wyze Cam v4 unresponsive: Looking for manual firmware flash/recovery instructions

Troubleshooting a defective Wyze Cam v4 - Manual flash procedure?

Hi everyone,

I have a Wyze Cam v4 that has become unresponsive/defective. I’ve tried the standard power cycle, but the camera still won’t work properly.

I would like to attempt a clean re-installation or a manual firmware flash via microSD card to see if that resolves the issue. However, I can’t find the specific recovery procedure or the correct file name (e.g., recovery_wcv4.bin) for the v4 model on the official support pages.

Could someone provide the link to the latest stable firmware and confirm the button sequence required to trigger the manual recovery/flash?

Thanks for your help!

Ok now that I follow this and see the purple led and now reboot, the camera continue to boot loop.

There any other thing I can do to make it work again ?

I successfully completed the setup and heard the ‘ready to connect’ prompt. However, the camera keeps making a clicking sound every 30 seconds. I also notice the red light appearing and disappearing repeatedly.

Perhaps the flash wasn’t successful. Did you see a solid blue LED to indicate that flash completed? What size SD card are you using and which firmware did you download?

I place the file as described.

Old setup button while plugged in and see the red light and the purple light.

I never see blue light.. :frowning:

I use this one: https://download.wyzecam.com/firmware/v4/recovery_wcv4_4.52.9.5332.bin.zip

Try doing a reset:

  1. Remove any microSD card inserted in the camera.
  2. With the camera plugged into power, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red (may take 10-30 seconds).
  3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up the camera as new or reflash to desired firmware version.

Also… did you drag the folder or the file to the card? Reformat the card to ensure no other files exist and just drag the file “recovery_wcv4.bin” to the card.

Yes the file is on the root of the card. No I not cleanup the card before. It’s mandatory ?

Thx!

I also did a reset, I think the camera is defective. Boot loop. Maybe that why the firmware flash never work.
