Wyze Cam V3 Pro setup - "can't connect to local network" - caused by MAC filtering

just passing on this bit of advice after my time-consuming experience setting up my camera - i’m using an Xfinity modem - and i have MAC filtering set on - (supposedly this makes it more secure - however i heard that hackers can bypass even this)

i turned off MAC filtering temporarily - and ran the Wyze setup again - and it worked

if Xfinity users don’t remember how to do this…

 1) log into your modem in a browser using "10.0.0.1" as the URL
 2) when in the application - goto "Connection > Wi-Fi - patiently
wait for the MAC list to build
 3) turn MAC filtering mode to "Allow-All" - don't forget to hit
"Save Filter Setting" button at the bottom of the screen
 4) on device running the Wyze setup - complete the network
        connection setup
 5) return to the browser running modem setup - and set MAC
filtering mode to "Allow" - don't forget to hit
"Save Filter Setting" button at the bottom of the screen

Different WiFi, but I also have to allow each new device.

And yes, as far as the security, it’s not THAT hard to spoof to a working MAC, but like most security measures, it’s one more layer to have to hack through. Each layer may only add a little security, but the more layers of security, the more effort a hacker will have to take to get in. Depends on the capability and determination of the hacker…

I turned off MAC filtering on my network a long time ago. I kept forgetting to allow the device in advance.
