I’ll bite and ask this again:

Loaded on a Bulb Cam that uploads minimal daytime events, but uploads lots of nighttime events as it’s basically a critter cam running ambient light until critter or person is detected and that is an all-night affair. :joy: Will be monitoring and report any issues with logs.

Let me see if I can get that answer

So far so good. :+1: No connection errors. Got hundreds of events captured day and night. No errors. Spot on AI object detection, recognition, tagging and uploading with person and pet (raccoons, cats, kitten, foxes). Other stuff working great too like scheduled ambient light, timed 100% light on based on AI object selection, SD recording and playback, etc.

I have been having this same issue too. I noticed a few weeks ago that my accessory bulb was on when the one on the bulb cam was not. The accessory bulb was showing offline and I have been unable to get it fixed. I’ve tried removing the bulbs and re-linking them but then it gives me an error when I try to re-link it. I’m not sure if it’s a firmware issue with the accessory bulb but the Wyze support team was not able to help me either. So they are apparently going to send me a replacement. Hopefully they get the problem fixed soon because it’s frustrating when I can use one bulb but not the other.

Welcome to the Forum, @emrichardt!

I wonder about the physical installation of your Bulb Cam and Accessory Bulb and if you’re experiencing interference with the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signal. I think that’s been my problem, and I think a number of factors are contributing.

In my installation, I have three external sockets on a circuit controlled by a single switch inside the front door of the home. One socket is in a light fixture on the front porch. The other two are on either side of the garage door, facing the driveway. I have a Bulb Cam in the garage socket closest to the porch, so it’s effectively between the Accessory Bulbs in each of the other two sockets. The sconces facing the driveway have some metal in them, perhaps enough to create a partial Faraday cage effect, so I wonder how much that might interfere with the radio signals. The farthest Accessory Bulb, on the other side of the garage door, is the one that I’ve usually seen “offline” and with its light on.

Steps I’ve taken to re-bind the Accessory Bulb to the Bulb Cam when I’ve seen this happen (not necessarily in this order; sometimes multiple items in combination):

  • Delete the “offline” Accessory Bulb and try to re-pair. (This by itself usually fails.)
  • Delete both Accessory Bulbs and try to re-pair. (This often resolves the issue but isn’t always sufficient by itself.)
  • Restart Bulb Cam from the app’s Settings screen. (I believe at times just rebooting the Cam this way has resolved the issue for me.)
  • Power-cycle the circuit (which cuts and restores power to Bulb Cam and two Accessory Bulbs).
  • Open the garage door. (It seems weird, but it often helps. My hypothesis is that there’s enough metal in both the sconces and the door that opening the door to move metal out of the way between the Bulb Cam on one side of the door and the Accessory Bulb on the other side is enough to improve the BLE signal between the two devices. I don’t know for sure if this provides any real benefit to my other troubleshooting steps, but I decided to try it one day and it seems to result in success more often when I’ve tried and failed with the other steps while the door is closed. Although the garage door itself isn’t line-of-sight between the Bulb Cam and Accessory Bulb, its presence along and near that line-of-sight path seems close enough that it might cause problems. If I open the door and then try other steps listed above, that usually resolves the problem.)

I did notice one “offline” instance with an Accessory Bulb while I was out of state for Christmas. I wasn’t able to visually confirm the “offline” bulb’s state (to see if the light was actually on), but I was able to resolve the issue that time by un-binding/re-binding both Accessory Bulbs. I may have also rebooted the Bulb Cam at that time, but I don’t recall. Everything seemed normal (lights off) when I arrived home during the day a few days later.

I have also noticed less frequent “offline” instances since doing three other things:

  1. I made some changes to my Wi-Fi network and now have a range extender in the garage. I wouldn’t expect this to have a profoundly direct effect on the BLE performance, but…. :man_shrugging:
  2. The problematic Accessory Bulb is currently in a Lamp Socket v2 because I wanted to put a Cam OG out there temporarily and that was an easy way to power it. Because of that addition between the bulb and the sconce’s socket, that particular Accessory Bulb now sits lower in the sconce, so maybe that’s enough to improve its signal. :man_shrugging:
  3. Because I want the Accessory Bulbs to be on at night to provide overnight lighting with Bulb Cam’s Ambient Light setting, I need that Lamp Socket v2 to have its socket turned on overnight. In order to do that, I have to enable that Lamp Socket v2’s Ambient Light setting, and on Lamp Socket v2 enabling Ambient Light requires setting a schedule. I set the schedule for 12:01 p.m.–12:00 p.m. so that I’d have a powered socket all night—basically all day except for a minute in the middle of the day. Effectively this means that every day at noon that particular Accessory Bulb reboots (power cycles) because Lamp Socket v2’s Ambient Light turns off for that 1 minute.

You might consider things like your sconce construction, distance between your Bulb Cam and Accessory Bulb, Wi-Fi signal, garage door or other potential sources of metallic interference (?), or other factors I haven’t even considered. Without knowing more about your situation and what you’ve tried with Wyze Support’s guidance, I’m not sure what else to suggest at this point.

Good morning,

I also have 3 lights that are connected to one switch in the same places that yours are. I have my cam bulb the furthest socket from my porch and the accessory bulb between the porch light and the cam bulb. Unfortunately nothing has worked for me to re-link the bulb. I have never been able to successfully delete the bulb as it has always been offline and has never regained a signal. I’m not entirely sure why, but I have tried anything and everything under the sun, even opening the garage. I’ve even moved the bulb to a different socket and still shows offline. So at this point I’m sort of out of options. We will see if I get a replacement bulb and hopefully that works. I really do like the 2 bulbs connected and that they turn on at the same time with motion. Thanks for the tips though!

Yeah, that’s nice when it works as expected and very frustrating when it doesn’t.

One other thing to try if you haven’t already: Take both Bulb Cam and Accessory Bulb indoors, closer to your main Wi-Fi source and each other, and try to re-bind them there. If you can do that and get them paired again, then make sure both are current with firmware. When trying to update firmware on these, I’ve seen them time out and fail. Bringing them indoors and temporarily sticking them all in an indoor fixture (I used the three-socket fixture that hangs over the dining room table.) gave me better results. I’d also consider a factory reset with both devices indoors and closer to your Wi-Fi signal.

Hopefully the replacement Accessory Bulb solves the problem for you. Maybe you just got one that doesn’t want to talk to anybody anymore. :man_shrugging:
