What do you do with unsupported cameras? I received a message that the Wyze Cam Outdoor is no longer supported. I have 23 units that operated great one day, and the next my establishments are vulnerable. Are there trade-up values offered, or can they be repurposed for security use outside of Wyze (if so how), or are they just expensive junk?
You should be able to continue using them, may have to stick with an older app version if they’ve started blocking them from newer ones (first I’ve heard of this if so). Honestly they haven’t gotten security updates in a long time, you’re no more vulnerable now than you have been for the past few years. As with any internet camera, even a fully supported and up to date one, they shouldn’t be in private areas or where they can pick up private conversations, and ideally having them on a guest/IOT network helps add security as well.
There is no trade in value. Maybe could get a bit for them by selling on marketplace or ebay etc.
If you don’t need battery powered cams, even the basic OG cam is a big step up from those, but the v4 is probably currently the best “bang for the buck” for a non-battery stationary camera.
Dave27 mentioned trying an older version of the Wyze App. Here is where you can find Android APK install files.
I have Wyze App version 2.50 running on an Android 9 tablet. I can view Cloud Event videos but not v3 Live View or SD card Playback.
