Why are bugs weird?

Nothing about this object looks like a bug to me

Everything about this object is a bug. It’s crawling on the lens, so it’s a giant blur. Looks like an ant or a spider.

When a bug is directly on the camera it’s too close to focus so what you see is a small dark blur like here. Sometimes the bug will fluoresce under the IR lights as well then it looks even stranger.
