I recently upgraded an indoor camera to a v4 camera. When we are home there is no need to use the spotlight. In fact, it’s so bright that it wakes people up. Consequently, I have it set to “Manual” mode. However, when I’m away from the house, e.g., when visiting family for the weekend, I would like to switch the mode to “Automatic.” That way I get the best view of a prowler, or my cat. Is there a way to switch the spotlight mode from manual to automatic, and vice-versa, using an automation?
Set an automation for “motion detected” and “turn spotlight on for x seconds”. You can manually turn the automation on or off or set it on a schedule. This is how I have my v4 and several OGs set up, I don’t want them triggering on ambient light (since there is often enough to cause them not to trigger) but rather on a schedule.
Leave it set to manual, you don’t want/need automatic since the automation will now be controlling it.
