Using a Wyze cam in remote locations on cellular hotspot

I don’t think the cams will sit there and record indefinitely without internet but I am no expert.

The cams USED to be able to be setup to record indefinitely to SD card without internet once they got set up and called home.

Can Wyze Cam Record to SD Card Without Internet Connection?

You set it up in wifi to continuous record, disconnect it to take to the new location, then plug it in and it will still continue to record? I asked this question in a different way elsewhere. I’m having trouble buying this. I guess i should check my sd card for those missing recordings…  

There are several running threads concerning this. Presently with the latest public build I think it’s broke.

Maybe some of that authorization (if that is what it is) could be done with a local token to allow any security concerns to be addressed while also allowing completely offline use like @kyphos and other users like them need.

But hopefully they might fix it in the near future.
I’m wanting to be able to use a few V2 “Saran Cams” as trail cams (notifications turned off, no remote viewing) by swapping SD cards and adding a battery.
